I don't know. As with any action on my part, if I were to commit suicide, the responsibility for doing so lays squarely on me. I'm responsible for my own actions, regardless of how well- or ill-informed they may be.

I believe there is an underlying cause of suicide, that can be laid at the feet of modern education. It should only take a few moments for the reader to realize the truth of this.

Modern education presents a false reality and largely unattainable expectations. Sans the influence of education it is the unrealistic optimism that many possess that leads to such disappointment that suicide is all but inevitable for many. The Pollyannish, indestructible attitude blinds many to the cold hard facts of life.

Suicide
I have had children in the public school system for 12 years now. There have been 5 suicides over that time in the district and 4 of them in grades between 5-8. It seems to me that the kids in the schools that have depression or behavioral issues are from homes that are in some trouble such as divorce, abuse, neglect etc. The kids in homes where at least the parents are together and care for their child seems to be enough for children to thrive. I guess with children I don't blame them, I blame the adults around them. As for adults I tend to get blame and get angry at them, but then again, I have never been in their shoes.

Children often suffer collateral damage, and not all can deal with it. Although, many youth suicides have nothing to do with their parents.
