Scripture
36Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”
Observation
Jesus is teaching is teaching about what will be happening in the world before His return. As the scripture above says, it will be a horror. Famine, disease, war, earthquakes, etc.
Application
This pinged me because this just sounds terrifying. Way back in the day I used to enjoy watching movies or T.V. shows about how things went terribly wrong in the world, daily life is thrown back into the stone ages, and society has to restart again. These stories make it sound romantic, but, Jesus tells us quite different. The more I get older the more I realize just how fragile our world is. If the Internet went off for a day we'd be thrown into chaos, not to mention if computers, power, hospitals, and everything else we rely on is compromised. I just don't know how I would get myself through it, let alone my family. So Jesus' words hear are so important, "pray that might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors…" Will they occur in my lifetime? Not even Jesus knows.

Prayer, especially the prayer Christ gave you and me specifically:
Matthew 6 NIV

And in chapter 7, He tells us --

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

Matthew 7 ESV

His commands to us, to love one another, to forgive, to be humble, to do to others as we would have them do to us -- we must "hear" and "do" so that we are on the rock, and can make it. It seems that even faith itself will only endure if we put His words to us into doing action.

One time, I was home alone. The rest of my family was visiting my son in another city. A very strong thunderstorm happened and I lost power. Talk about pitiful! I called my family, thank God for cell phones, and told them what was happening. There was nothing they could do for me. I thought, suppose this went on for days, or months. It would be terrible! But yet,Lord Jesus spoke of a time when things would be more terrible than this.

Yes, Yahuweh and Yahushua know. Perfectly.

Expect persecution and suffering , as 'promised' for EVERYONE who seeks His Kingdom, to DO HIS WILL.

The world (already) hates us, because it hates Him.

We all are like sheep, let to slaughter daily.

Seek to have the same mind/attitude as Christ - not drawing back from suffering or painful persecution.

How will anyone get through ?

Read Foxes Book of Martyrs, for examples, to start with.
(it's free online) (or was) pdf format, etc ....
