Two prominent cable news networks offered zero coverage to the breaking misconduct allegation made against former Vice President and potential 2020 candidate Joe Biden on Friday night.
A former Democratic candidate from Nevada alleged in an op-ed published in New York Magazine’s The Cut that Biden inappropriately touched her at a 2014 campaign event.
Lucy Flores, who was running for Nevada lieutenant governor, was aided by the vice president just days before the election and appeared alongside the candidate at a rally.
JOE BIDEN ACCUSED OF INAPPROPRIATE CONDUCT BY FORMER NEVADA DEM CANDIDATE
“As I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze. ‘Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?’” Flores recalled. “I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it… ‘Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?’ He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused.”
“Even if his behavior wasn’t violent or sexual, it was demeaning and disrespectful,” she later wrote. “I wasn’t attending the rally as his mentee or even his friend; I was there as the most qualified person for the job.”
Flores took to Twitter on Friday, saying it was “incredibly difficult” to come forward but “felt necessary.”
Biden spokesman Bill Russo issued a statement in response to the op-ed.
“Neither then, nor in the years since, did he or the staff with him at the time have an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes,” the statement read. “But Vice President Biden believes that Ms. Flores has every right to share her own recollection and reflections, and that it is a change for better in our society that she has the opportunity to do so. He respects Ms. Flores as a strong and independent voice in our politics and wishes her only the best.”
CNN, MSNBC ignore explosive misconduct allegation against Biden
Hmmmmm…..no denial......
Joe Biden has been accused for years of being a 'creepy kind of pervert' with all manner of photos, some genuine, some photoshopped, circulated on the web of him hugging, kissing, affectionately touching women and men of all ages. He likes to come up behind people and give them a hug or chaste kiss. I know quite a few guys who are pretty much like that. And I suspect that is simply who he is. To the best of my knowledge, I don't think anybody has ever accused him, much less shown evidence for, any seriously improper sexual behavior on his part.
Remember the bruhaha when President George W. Bush gave Chancellor Angela Merkel an affectionate (and inappropriate) non sexual brief shoulder massage? I suspect that is just the kind of guy he is too and did it without even thinking about it. (After all the publicity he no doubt did think about it after that and didn't repeat the 'offense'.)
My point is we can comment on stuff like this and laugh and joke about it, but honestly, it isn't any big deal. I can think of a lot of reasons not to elect Joe Biden President, and I think he now has a track record that will provide a lot of ammunition for any opponent, Democrat or Republican, but I want Americans to get back to focusing on what matters and the person's track record or projected agenda.
Do we want effectively open borders or do we want immigration laws enforced?
Do we want to keep the current immigration laws or relax them or improve on them?
Do we want different laws for different groups of people?
Do we want infanticide to be legal?
Do we want judges and SCOTUS justices and unelected faceless bureaucrats making law or should our elected representatives do that and the courts interpret the law as intended and otherwise be silent?
Do we like the current economy or do we want to go back to an Obama-like economy?
Do we want the government dictating what healthcare we are allowed to have or do we want a government that promotes the best healthcare system?
Do we want the government to control every aspect of the cars, appliances, equipment we are allowed to have or is the free market and common sense the best regulator of that?
The issues that matter, that affect people's lives, that make us better as a nation are what we should be focused on.
Uncle Joe Biden kissing some woman on the head is so far down on the list of what is important that I think we can have some fun with it, but otherwise can pretty much ignore it.
