What commandments is Jesus talking about?

Jeremiah 31:34 No longer will any of them teach (command) his fellow community member or his brother, ‘Know ADONAI‘; for all will know me, from the least of them to the greatest; because I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.”

The command has gone out. Yeshua has proclaimed the beacon call. The shofar has sounded, the tekiah gedolah. Lasting over 2000 yrs so far. No longer is any of the House of Yisrael teaching and proclaiming the command to ‘Know the LORD‘. Because the Father is commanding all, from the least of us to the greatest, to know Him, through Yeshua.

The command is to know the LORD through Yeshua. To have a relationship with God through Yeshua the Messiah.

The One He sent to judge and forgive our sins. We are commanded to believe in Him. That He is the One He said he was, and that He did the things He said He did. This is Faith that leads to eternal life! This was the command Yeshua gave all who listened. This was the command proclaimed by the Father through the Son of God, Yeshua.

All will know the LORD because He will forgive our wickedness and remember our sins no more, because of Yeshua!! The Father is commanding all through Yeshua to know Him.

We know Him when we believe Yeshua is One with the Father, having authority to forgive our sins and remember them no more.

John 5:17 But he answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I too am working.” 18 This answer made the Judeans all the more intent on killing him — not only was he breaking Shabbat; but also, by saying that God was his own Father, he was claiming equality with God.

19 Therefore, Yeshua said this to them:

“Yes, indeed! I tell you that the Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does, the Son does too. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does; and he will show him even greater things than these, so that you will be amazed.

21 Just as the Father raises the dead and makes them alive, so too the Son makes alive anyone he wants. 22 The Father does not judge anyone but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father. Whoever fails to honor the Son is not honoring the Father who sent him.

24 Yes, indeed! I tell you that whoever hears what I am saying and trusts the One who sent me has eternal life — that is, he will not come up for judgment but has already crossed over from death to life!

25 Yes, indeed! I tell you that there is coming a time — in fact, it’s already here — when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who listen will come to life.

26 For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has given the Son life to have in himself. 27 Also he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

The Father has been commanding till now, and Yeshua is commanding now as well. In fact, the Father has placed all authority in Yeshua. Yeshua’s commands are the Fathers commands.

Whoever hears what Yeshua is commanding and trusts the One who sent him has eternal life. And this is not some time in the future. This command, this promise, this covenant ‘is infact already here’.

The Father is calling all to know Him through Yeshua, the Son of God. The Father is commanding all to know Him through Yeshua, the One He sent to command us all to know the Father.

The command is to know the LORD (Yeshua). How do we know the LORD?

Yeshua said the Father is teaching all people to listen and believe in the One He sent. Yeshua said the Father is teaching everyone to believe and listen to Yeshua for eternal life, and the forgiveness of sins. Yeshua said, whoever listens to the commands of the Father ‘comes to Yeshua’.

In other words, the Father is commanding all to have a relationship with him by coming to Yeshua for forgiveness of sins. The Father placed all authority to judge with Yeshua, so the Father is calling (commanding) all to come to Yeshua to be forgiven.

Yeshua is the snake being held up on the stick, the cursed one that if we look upon him AND BELIEVE will bring healing. (Numbers 21:8)

John 6:44-51 No one can come to me unless the Father — the One who sent me — draws him. And I will raise him up on the Last Day.

It is written in the Prophets, `They will all be taught by ADONAI. Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God — he has seen the Father.

Yes, indeed! I tell you, whoever trusts has eternal life: 48 I am the bread which is life. Your fathers ate the man in the desert; they died. But the bread that comes down from heaven is such that a person may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that has come down from heaven; if anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. Furthermore, the bread that I will give is my own flesh; and I will give it for the life of the world.”

ALL are commanded to receive forgiveness & Spirit through Faith in Yeshua.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Teach all nations in the world as I have taught you. Yeshua himself instructed the gentiles through the apostles to observe all that he had commanded.

Acts 1:1 In the first book, O 1Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began 2to do and teach, 2 until the day when 3he was taken up, after he 4had given commands 5through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

Yeshua gave commands through the Spirit to the to the apostles. Here is what Peter stated Yeshua commanded him.

Acts 10:42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.“

He commanded the apostles to preach and testify that Yeshua is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead, he is God in the flesh.

Psalms 50
1 The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. 3 Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest. 4 He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: 5 “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” 6 The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge! Selah

The prophets all bore witness that EVERYONE who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins.

Jeremiah 31:34And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’11for they shall all know me, 12 from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For 13 I will forgive their iniquity, and 14I will remember their sin no more.”

Acts 10:44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.

Ephesians 1:13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it,to the praise of his glory.

How did they all know Him?

We know Him though the salvation of God, (Yeshua) forgiving sins and remembering them no more
. When we believe this message sent from God, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. The Holy Spirit is the seal that guarantees our inheritance, which is eternal life in union with God through His Spirit. Which was also given to the gentiles, when they believe in the authority given Yeshua. The inheritance is eternal life with Yeshua, and his forgiving our sins and remembering them no more.

Matthew 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.

Acts 13:47 For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'”

He commanded the Jewish apostles to bring salvation to the Gentiles.

Isaiah 45:22 “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

Psalm 22:27 ESV All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

Yeshua’s command was the Father’s command, that all should look upon Yeshua and believe he is the Judge and redeemer of the world. Believe that the Father sent himself into this world as promised in the form of Yeshua, whose life and death and resurrection makes a way for us to be in the presence of God through the Spirit. Yeshua is our banner, the cursed One who was lifted up on the cross for ALL to look upon and be healed.

Yeshua’s banner was the Father, our banner is Yeshua. Both were held up by the power of the Spirit of God.

There is no other way to know God than to believe in Yeshua as the Judge and Redeemer who will raise you up after death to newness of life, eternal. When we believe, as commanded, we receive the Spirit of God as a sign, a seal and a gift. He reminds us of all things Yeshua commanded through the Father. He lives in us as the Father lives in Yeshua. He continues to guide and protect us all the days of our life. Because we remain in Faith with God, through Yeshua.

This is how we have a relationship with God. This is how we honor Him, by honoring his Son, Yeshua. And this is how we honor the Son of God, Yeshua the Messiah. We believe that he is the salvation of God, in the flesh, and has authority to forgive our sins, and remember them no more, and dwells within us through God’s Spirit. We believe His Spirit keeps us and reminds us, teaches us, and purifies us in all ways. It is our foundational conduit to the presence of God. His Word, and his Glory.

Through the Holy Spirit we have a relationship with the Father by honoring the One He sent, his Son, Yeshua the Messiah. We honor him by believing in Him, what he did, who he is, and what he will do. His instructions can be summed up in two statements. Judaism calls it the Shema v’Ahvata. The first states that there is no other God besides the God of (Yisrael) Abraham, Issac and Jacob, and the second declares our unending, unfathomable, love for Him, and his command that we should love others, as he loves us.

Faith, honor, hope=Love=The commandment.

ABOUT ME
If you want to enter life, keep the commandments
Matthew 19:17
17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.

Did Jesus just say that if you want to have eternal life you must observe the (Law) Torah given to Israel by God? Or did he just say that through keeping the commandments of the law he would come to know Yeshua, God his savior who graciously gifts all with eternal life to those who believe and abide in him?

If you want to find life you will find it written within the commands of the Torah given Israel. A truth. Because the Torah, Prophets, and Psalms all wrote about, testified and proclaimed the testimony of Yeshua. That he would come, forgive, heal, offer his life for the ransom of many, be resurrected, and impart the very spirit of God into all who believe in this. All the scriptures point to and testify about Yeshua. So if you want to know how to enter into life eternal, read the commandments. (And for this man’s case, observe them because he was given them under the existing covenant) They all speak of and lead to Yeshua.

Luke 22:37
37 It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”

Example one: What was Yeshua teaching when he used this verse from the prophet Isaiah? He revealed that what was written in Isaiah was written about him, and that this scripture was about to reach it’s fulfillment through is actions on the cross.

He didn’t teach them Torah, he revealed to them where in the prophets was written about him. He revealed the Father’s testimony about his son that would come, and that he was him. The prophets spoke of and wrote about Yeshua.

Yeshua pointed to the prophets ONLY to identify the testimony given them about himself. Nothing about how the law will bring you life by YOUR observances, as if through the Spirit.

Luke 24:44
44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

Example Two: Why was Yeshua pointing to the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms? Because he expected you to learn the commands given Moses? Or to find where it was written about Yeshua and what he must fulfill? This is a very open and straight foward statement. ‘while I was with you I told you everything written in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms THAT WAS WRITTEN ABOUT ME!’ Yet, some will continue to see it as the opposite; ‘while I was with you I told you everything written in the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms.’ As if he was teaching them the commands of the Law of Moses.

John 5:32
32 There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true.

36 “I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me.

Example Three: What works did Yeshua state he was doing? Works of the Law, or fulfilling the very testimony written and spoken of by the Father, about Yeshua?

The Father not only testifies concerning Yeshua, he commands all to come to him, wait for it… to enter life! A life not found from following the law but following Yeshua who gives the Spirit, as opposed to the law.

So again we see that the Father’s commands testify about Yeshua. Yeshua did not testify about the Law of Moses, the Law of Moses testified about Yeshua. The Father testifies about Yeshua and commands all to come to him for life.

39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,

BOOM! There it is in a nutshell.
Eternal life is found in Yeshua, and the Scriptures testify about this!
Don't throw them away, but don't misrepresent them either.
46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.

John 10:25
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,

Works of the law? What did he tell them, when did he command his followers to observe the laws of Moses as best as possible? He was commanding everyone to observe works of the Law of Moses? God’s commands….. The Ten, The Two…..The One…

No, the works Yeshua did were all testified by the Father through the Torah. And Yeshua not only spoke this message he accomplished it and fulfilled it. He not only claimed to be the Messiah of Israel as testified by the Father of all creation, he proved it by his works. Of the Spirit.

John 15:26
26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.

Example Four: Who does the Spirit testify about, Moses or Yeshua? Why would the Spirit bring you to Moses when it’s been plainly shown that Moses leads to Yeshua? I do believe this lie tries to short circuit the Spirit by falsely claiming the Spirit leads you back to Moses. It’s a rouse, a false sign that says ‘come here, truth be known’ (and what you don’t see on the back of the sign because you ran so hard ahead is “at your own peril”)

John 16:9
26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.

So good he had to mention it twice!

John 6:25-59
27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

What is the commandment of God, what work does God command you do for eternal life? Believe in the one he sent, and be immersed with the Spirit of God who keeps you and reminds you of everything Yeshua said.

Yeshua mentions a food that spoils here and contrasts it with a food that endures to eternal life. When the Jews refer to Moses receiving Manna from heaven as a sign of his connection to the Father, Yeshua states that actually the bread from heaven didn’t come down with Moses but from Yeshua.

Bread=word

“He gave them (the word) from heaven to eat”. “And they died”(in their sins) Yeshua said to them, actually my Father is giving you the true (word) from heaven now. As opposed to when the Torah was given.

31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” 32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

The testimony of Yeshua, the testimony of the Father. The good news, the Gospel. Our hope of glory, Messiah in us.

When one refers to “if you love me keep my commandments” and refers or alludes to the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms, they are deceived or flat out lying.

Yeshua who gives the Spirit, as opposed to the law.

I think the confusion comes in at this point, where a false dichotomy is presented. This comes from the "this or that" Greek understanding.

In the Ruach ha Torah there is no opposition. Remember, deliverance from Egypt was by the blood of the lamb and then the "Law of Moses" at Sinai came down.

So, our deliverance in Messiah is also followed by becoming more and more like Him.

Because the Father is commanding all, from the least of us to the greatest, to know Him, through Yeshua.

The command is to know the LORD through Yeshua. To have a relationship with God through Yeshua the Messiah.
Yeshua has said,
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
(Mat 5:17-18)
Heaven and Earth have not passed away and all has not been fulfilled. So not one jot or tittle has passed from the law. But as you say there is a change. And that change is in our relationship with our Father GOD and whom HE sent. Behold all things are new and of GOD. We are a new Creation in Christ Jesus!

For GOD has said!
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
(Heb 8:10 KJV)

He has put HIS Laws in our hearts and minds! Praise HIM for HE is worthy!

It should also be noted. When Paul was speaking to the Jews and Gentiles of Rome in His letter to them he through the Spirit paraphrased Deut. 30:11-14 . He said...

Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ (the word) down from above: ) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ (the word) again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word (Christ) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; For Christ (the word; GOD'S law in the heart, mind, and mouth) is the end of the law (written on parchment and Tables of Stone) for righteousness to every one that believeth
(Rom 10:4-8 KJV)

Isn't wonderful! A New Ministration! Not of Tables of Stone or that which is written on parchment but of the fleshly tables of the heart through Christ! Hallelujah we are a New Creation In Christ Jesus!

Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
(2Co 3:3-5 KJV)

The law remains as long as sin and death remain. When they are swallowed up the laws dealing with sin and death will completely fade away.

For GOD has said!
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
(Heb 8:10 KJV)

You shouldn't cut the context of the surrounding verses.

11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
I imagine you weren't expecting me to highlight that verse over the last. But the law is written upon the heart through the Spirit, hence the term 'the law of the Spirit '. And what happens when the Spirit writes the laws of God upon your heart is your sins are forgiven and washed clean. The Spirit convicts your heart until you allow it to keep you from it. So removing the power of sin that brings you under the condemnation of the law.

The law of the Spirit removes the sin in your life, that is its purpose, to keep you Holy till the day of your redemption.

The laws dealing with sin and death are removed in the life of the believer through the law of the Spirit. We are no longer condemned by any law when we believe and operate by the law of the Spirit.

Yeshua testified taught witnessed and spoke the law of the Spirit. Something only foretold in the books of the Law. It is now here, his kingdom has come. Life has entered the world, the law speaks of this life but is not the actual life itself. So how foolish to claim this light of life leads back to darkness.

I see keeping the commandments and knowing Jesus as separate issues; yet if one said he knew the Lord and did not keep His commandments, that one would be a liar.

It boggles the mind how much trouble people go to avoid keeping the commandments and to justify not keeping the commandments; and if that one decided to keep the commandments it is unlikely that that one would know what keeping the commandments meant and would likely emulate the Pharisees.

This raises the interesting question; what is it that Easter doesn't recognise for fails to achieve?

Two people pleased God; Abraham and Jacob, but here something goes wrong; Joseph is sold into slavery and shortly after the whole family finds itself in Egypt (in slavery). Did they go to Egypt against God's will, because God forgot them, and remembered only after their number grew to around 1 million. God threatens to kill all the first born; not only the Egyptians but if the blood was not on the door jamb then that Israelite family would loose it's first born also. A precedence is established, the spirit of God passes over the blood (of the covenant). Past sins are forgotten and then the Law is introduced.
