Do I think that singing is spiritual warfare?

I think it can be. I remember how, if I remember right, Moses was taking the people into a battle, and they put the singers at the front, then God whipped the living daylights out of the enemy while the Jews did not need to do any fighting.

So, singing can be a way of not taking it on our own selves to try to control evil. And God does what is needed while we sing to Him.

And, in us, "making melody in your heart to the Lord" is good for being with God, instead of trying to do our own way of fighting things out > Ephesians 5:19. It's a way of not letting evil emotions and feelings and thoughts get the better of us.

And I understand that Calvinism includes how much God is in control of things; and so singing can be a way of celebrating how much it is God, really, who alone can take care of spiritual warfare things . . . while we need to rest and sing and enjoy Him.

For Calvinists here > do you agree with what I am considering?

Do you think singing worship songs is spiritual warfare?
Not if the focus of the song is me. That is why I dislike gospel music. Oh How I Love Jesus is not about Jesus but me. And my love for Him, though it is bursting from my heart, isn’t sufficient to even speak of. Hymns, several praise songs and Psalms are good.

Are they spiritual warfare? They could be but I think spiritual warfare is more learning of Him and what He did and increasing faith in Him. The more you learn of Him the more you rest in Him. The more you rest in Him the more free you are to serve Him. Walking by faith is looking to Him for all; all your righteousness, all your holiness, all your acceptance with God, all your peace, all your assurance, all your blessings from God. He is enough for God and enough for the wretched sinner.

He is the focus of the Scriptures and ought to be the focus of our worship and life.

Colossians 1:15-18 (KJV) 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

Thanks for the thoughts..

I cant help but think of verses like:

'The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.' Isaiah 61:3 NKJV

'Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city' Isaiah 52:1 NKJV

'But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.' Psalm 22:3 KJV

I tend to believe some things can be and are broken when we sing Praise to our God and Worship Him.

He is a very Merciful and Wonderful God

You are probably right. But it it the object of our praise that breaks strongholds.

I used to have a roommate who would have worship songs playing all night quietly.

Makes sense in a way i guess that demons may not enjoy visiting an environment where music praising God is playing.

Considering what she had come out of anything that would help keep them at bay was welcome.
