Saint John says that those who are not faithful to the truth should be separated from those who are.

“Expel the Wicked Person From Among You”

"Saint John says in his second letter, and reiterates in his third, that those who are not faithful to the truth should be separated from those who are. By so saying, he does not slip into sentimentality, and he foreshadows the dictum of Saint John Paul II in a general audience of Nov. 8, 1978, that “there is no love without justice.” Bishop Fulton Sheen earlier paraphrased it when he wrote: “Justice without love could become tyranny, and love without justice could become toleration of evil.
Quoted from the article.
I learned a great lesson from St. John Paul II. It was 1982. My friend made the comment, "Pope John Paul II just forgave his attempted assassin! He is so merciful!" I was astounded at the news. I was anxious to hear more. "So, did the Pope have the attempted assassin over to the Vatican for dinner, in order to forgive the man?" "He went to the prison to forgive the man! He did not let an attempted assassin out of prison!", exclaimed my friend.

My confusion, of course, was that to forgive someone meant to let them out of prison for trying to murder you. I did not, at that time, understand that one could forgive someone from behind prison bars. Forgiving your enemy from behind prison bars makes a lot more sense. True love of enemies is to forgive them and protect yourself and others from further harm from your enemies.

'There is no love without justice', I totally agree with St. Pope John Paul II.
