Hey this is a hail Mary but I wanted to ask you since I know you have done a lot of study. After the return to Israel were there any kings from the line of David? I mean to your knowledge, because I can't find anything on the subject.

Sorry to be off topic here but it's something that has bothered me for some time.

Grace and peace,
Mark

There were no Davidic kings after the return from exile but David's line lived on. Matthew traces the lineage from exile to the time of Christ in his first chapter. IIRC the Zerubbabel mentioned in Matthew 1:12 is the same Zerubbabel mentioned in Zechariah and Ezra as the governor of post-exilic Judah. He was a governor, but not a king.

That's what I thought, I had noticed Zerubbabel in the genealogy of Matthew. I have often wondered if there was something in the Rabbinical writings about the house of David, guess I'm not too surprised given the political climate of the intertestamental period. Thanks for the feedback.

Grace and peace,
Mark
