Today I have come across numerous threads about sins committed after salvation and there are as many opinions and thoughts on it as there a denominations of faith...(makes sense)...
Anyway, as I was meditating on this and thinking on scriptures and teachings I realized that so much of the Bible uses the mistakes of others to teach us right from wrong....from the beginning of Adam and Eve and throughout....
The one thing that was a common theme is that their sin is revealed...they suffer the consequence...they cry out to God for forgiveness and repent....God is faithful and just to forgive....God restores them to a place of righteousness......and what happens next....another sin...and the sequence of events starts over......HOWEVER to the unrepentant sinner he suffers the consequences through God's Laws and eventually is stripped of everything he once was blessed with....even unto death.
My conclusion is that God isn't looking for the born again believer to be perfect and without sin as Christ was but to be willing to admit wrongdoing, repent, and to get back up and keep persevering.....it is a daily walk...the more mature a person becomes spiritually the stronger he becomes in overcoming temptation.
Now there are other situations that are known as strongholds in a Christians walk such as what Paul spoke about....
Romans 7:21 Context
19For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do 20Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 21I find then a Law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22For I delight in the Law of God, after the inward man. 23But I see another Law in my members, warring against the Law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the Law of sin, which is in my members.
So in discovering this He is shown a revelation of what Grace is...
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
I have been a Christian for nearly my entire life....and STILL the Holy Spirit is cleansing my heart of hidden things I could not see for myself....recently...spiritual pride.
I constantly pray Psalm 51:10 over my life and the more I seek that the more I learn the truth about MY faults rather than my fellow brother or sisters.
When judgment day comes it is the HEART that will judged......and the irony in that is that if a person continues to search and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal things in their heart that is a stumbling block in their walk and are willing and obedient to do what they are told to do by God's Word ......then we do come to a place in life of having a pure heart, and with a pure heart is no weakness.....Perfect Love casteth out all fear and doubt, Fulfills all the Law...is perfect!
