Chaos spreads in France as Nutella-loving customers battle to get 70 percent off

The dogged pursuit of a discounted confection now heavily based on sugar and palm oil was hardly limited to Forbach. All over the country, similar Nutella outbursts — some of which were even described as “riots” — erupted on Thursday. In some cases, the authorities even had to be called in to restore order.

seems the french can't actually help rioting. this week nutella. a few weeks ago cars. it's in the french spirit to burn stuff down and behead an elite.

This reminds me of those Rick & Morty fans going crazy over a sauce none of them knew existed until it was mentioned on the show.

actually this all just reminds me that all this sporadic rioting that happens regularly in france and has been happening for a very long long time keeps getting blamed on migrants when in fact it is just what happens in france.

If it helps clear things up for you, this Nutella silliness was a few idiots pushing each other in shops to get to a bargain. Basically a much, MUCH milder version of the wave of violence that sweeps across America every Black Friday. Perhaps the fact the US media described it as 'rioting' might also play a part in why you think rioting happens regularly in France. As someone who actually lives in France, I can assure you its one of the most civilized and peaceful countries around.

Kentonio is totally right, it was only a little ridiculous incident in very few supermarkets and from what it seems, foreign newspapers describe it as a big chaotic riot when it was truly nothing important ;) It actually made me laugh when I first heard about it on the news, and it was mostly described in a funny way! So nothing important, truly, simply an overmediatic reaction about an incident which would have been forgotten in a couple of hours otherwise!

Wow. Amazing how little people have ever been to France or read much about France, other than the lies of the far right press, yet know allllllllllllll about what is going on. SMDH.
The Washington Post is "far right press" now?
