God is jealous and commands our complete undivided worship. Worship’s very meaning is basically leaving Self out – in our devotion to Him. This is where you have the woman emptying out the very expensive perfume (her life savings) to use it upon Jesus; Matt 26:7. When Abraham went to the mountain with Isaac ready to kill his son – for God; Gen. 22:2-7. Where the Apostle Paul lived his life and died as an act of worship.

Christmas is a mass of self-serving ritual, tradition and celebration that is held in the name of Christ but cannot be categorized as a time/event of worship ordained by God, for it goes against everything that worship is and represents!

I continually hear the question: ‘Are you ready for Christmas?’ or the comment: ‘I’m trying to get into the Christmas Spirit’, or ‘I’m trying not to stress this year’ Never have I spoken, nor ever heard words such as: ‘I’m looking forward to this time in worship to Christ’ or ‘I am in awe of His greatness and seek greater depths in His Spirit’, or ‘My life and work is to know The Prince of Peace’. These are comments that, if Christmas was truly of Him, you should be hearing as the witness that it is about Him. But because it is not – you will always have the former comments. You will know what is His by the fruit it bares.

We all know that Christmas is the retail market’s number one cash grab. Christmas sells – and it sells very well. The non believing world uses Christmas to make its wage....or put another way, heathens take what we have deemed to be holy – and make huge loads of money off it. Christ’s heart was revealed to us for His Father and His Honor when he cleared the temple courts out with a whip. Is Christmas not the same? We, as Christians have allowed the market into a place of honor for our Lord. It is next to impossible to celebrate Christmas without buying into it.

God is not in Christmas. He can’t for it goes against who He is. There are many examples of His hatred of mixing the world into what is His – He does not share or inter mingle. So why is it that we as believers think that Christmas is an exception? The obvious mixture is the sharing of this Holiday with Santa. But there is one that is much more abominable to Him; sharing with SELF. Then there is the incredible history of pagan and very satanic origins where the Christmas celebrations stem from.

We forget that God is Holy. He shares His glory with no one. That to worship Him requires it (the worship) becoming entirely exclusively about Him. You can’t celebrate Christmas and Honour Him at the same time because Christmas is about YOU- celebrating Him. It’s about YOU getting. It’s about YOU giving. It’s about YOU. YOU buy all the decorations to make your home look nice for YOU. YOU buy gifts for other YOU’s – so YOU feel good and YOU all have fun. YOU attend gatherings and parties, over eat, over indulge, and over buy all so that YOU enjoy yourself. I could go on but the point is clear.

Hypothetically if God were to ask us to honor His Son’s birth (day) it would not look, feel or sound like what it is today. It would be something that the unbelieving world would not want to participate in AT ALL for it would have no self-serving aspect to it and would not be appealing to them.

The event of the beginning of Jesus’s life on earth was turned into a shrine- much like what Peter and the other 2 disciples wanted to do when Jesus was transfigured; Mark 9: 2-7. For God to speak out meant that this was not a little thing! He interrupted a bright idea that man tends to come up with – because the point is not about camping out and building memorials on events or occasions, He made it clear what His point is as to what He wants:

This is My Beloved Son!

Hear Him!

Celebrating Christmas is an ancient Christian tradition. It began in the Bible with the shepherds. It does not traditionally involve presents.

It's good to keep Christ in Christmas.

In the end it can be - for the believer - another good opportunity to proclaim the wonderful doctrine of the Incarnation of the Son of God. :)

Christmas celebration is found in the pagan winter solstice and sun worship, also the Roman Saturnalia of drunkennss and revellery.
