Breaking Now:

A man who was arrested Monday in Washington, D.C. allegedly traveled to the nation’s capital to kill “all white police” at the White House.

Michael Arega, of Dallas, Texas, was arrested Monday afternoon after the Secret Service Protective Intelligence Division received an alert just before 3 p.m. from the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department to be on the lookout for Arega.

He reportedly traveled from Texas to kill “all white police” at the White House, according to a statement from the U.S. Secret Service.

A Facebook profile that appears to be Arega’s shows him “checked in” at the White House on Monday, and also includes posts with statements such as: “Now i am going to there to white House make sure kill All white POLICE !!,” “I remove the power of darkenes [sic] from USA in the powerful name of Jesus Christ !!,” and “Put Him on Jail Donald J Trump in Maighty Name of JESUS CHRRIST !!”

I'm curious, does the above make him a Christian terrorist?

Serious question no snark...

I think your point is that if someone from another religion had done exactly the same, citing slogans perceived as relating to another religion, would this somehow prove that all the person's co-religioners were somehow a threat and therefore supposed evidence for a changed immigration policy?

a little bit

my point was that this person identified as being Christian... thus, because he identified as being Christian does that make him a Christian terrorist?

When a Muslim person does something like this, we are very quick to slap on the Muslim Terrorist label...

But given something similar involving a Christian (or someone who thinks he is Christian), our we as quick to slap on similar labels???

Similarly, if the answer is no, do we extend the same logic to Muslims or people who identify as being Muslim?

Essentially, I'm just trying to be logically consistent as that is something that is important to me...

Well, exactly. Otherwise it can quickly become an exercise in stirring up people's fears to bolster the careers of politicians.

Except a True Born Again believer in the Blood of the Risen Christ would never do such a thing, so no, they are not a “Christian” Terrorist.

Whether he really believes or not is besides the point he invoked Jesus.

"Christian terrorist": That's probably the most ironic thing I've ever heard.
I should have added a smiley. :sorry:

This guy is clearly suffering from mental health issues, which is usually the case for anyone that shows up at the White House. I think one reason you don't often hear about people getting killed by the police or Secret Service at the White House is because the people showing up are likely not healthy. However, I think mental health is problem long ignored in this country, which I think contributes to mass shootings, police shootings, and many of the issues we see with homelessness.

At the same time, if we look at some of the old Popes back in Europe, I don't think Christian terrorist is too out of this world.

I knew you were being facetious :D Just had to point out that anyone who would seriously say that there could be such a thing does not know what a christian is.

Agreed. Mental issues are a root cause and huge unchecked problem; whether be acute or chronic.

Yeah, ask far as the Crusades are concerned, or the Inquisition; I will whole heartedly state those things are completely NOT Christian. Just because something is done in the name of Christ, doesn't mean that they are following Him. (Jeremiah 29:23 is a good reference)

This is true in any action or word that breaks apart civility; and that is the "actions of a few do not define the whole."

The No True Scotsman defense....

When Muslim wack jobs or anyone from a Muslim region does something then hey... it's because they were Muslim...

When a Christian does something then that "something" proves they weren't really Christian...

Thus it is "impossible" for a Christian to be a terrorist???

gotta love the No True Scotsman Defense....
