picking apart years and months rather than seeing general events is gnat straining.
No, I don't agree.
Admonitions in scripture have been manipulated twisted contorted grossly and "generally" misapplied for millennia, even more so in the last 100 years by well meaning people with preconceptions of what they mean. And the VAST majority have been wrong and lead trusting believers into error, often grevious and damaging to the Gospel and to the honor due His Name.

Ezekiel speaks of the abominations in the Temple: the 'seat of the image of jealousy', what the Elders were doing in the Temple by worshipping their own gods, locked away in the basement, or women weeping for Tammuz, people worshipping the sun etc., and there were others, by implication, in the text.

The abomination in the Temple standing where he ought not, could be, for example, a split in the leadership, with a (disgraced) priest who, in allowing or promoting such things, is leading the people astray by perhaps advocating surrender to their enemy(ies), to worship a pagan god(s), etc., bringing the wrath of G_d upon them. Yeshua no doubt saw this about to happen, following on from him laying down his life, and the turmoil that come upon the people, as various things went awry in Temple life.

Does it have to be a foreign enemy or an inanimate object? It is clear that G_d saw a number of things as 'abominations'.

While searching I found this little tidbit of info.. Cassius Dio, a Roman historian, records that the Temple was breached on the Sabbath. Loeb Classical Library, 9 volumes, Greek texts and facing English translation: Harvard University Press, 1914 thru 1927. Translation by Earnest Cary.
