...."it's business."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-housing-crisis_us_57e9dfc6e4b0c2407cd9255a

In an early heated exchange, Trump said his wishing for a housing market collapse was simply business savvy.

“Donald was one of the people who rooted for the housing crisis,” Clinton said. “He said, back in 2006, ‘Gee, I hope it does collapse because then I can go in and buy some and make some money.’”

“That’s called business, by the way,” Trump interjected.

“Nine million people lost their jobs,” Clinton continued, talking over Trump. “Five million people lost their homes, and $13 trillion in family wealth was wiped out.”

It reminds me of Michael Corleone in the Godfather: "It's not personal. It's strictly business."

Hi FIC,

I agree that it's just business. For me, the question is: Do I want the president to be a man who would be ok with millions of people suffering because it's a 'good' business decision? He spoke of our military bases and presence in other countries not being paid for by those countries. Well, here I believe he shows his lack of understanding of military affairs. A lot of those bases aren't there because the host nation requested them for protection. A lot of them, if not most, are there because the United States wants them there to provide us with a greater ability to make a first strike quickly against other aggressor nations in the areas of concern. Japan, as an example, has our military presence because we want to be close to both North Korea and China. Now, South Korea does count on our presence for its defense against North Korea, but our presence in South Korea also bolsters our ability to be ready should China or North Korea make a play.

China used to be a staunchly held communist stronghold. Not so much anymore, although it still does have a communist government. Maybe it's time for us to reconsider the size of our presence in Japan, but we aren't in Japan for their protection. We are in Japan for our own protection. I'm confident that if we were to tell Japan that it needed to pay for our presence there, they'd likely just tell us to go. Now, I don't know all the in's and out's of why we're needed there, but I'm confident that our military leaders would not want to leave Japan. It gives us a fairly good size military presence on the other side of the world. Ready for 'first strike' capabilities or immediate response capabilities in a moment.

I rather imagine that Gen. MacArthur wouldn't be pleased if we put ourselves in a position of having to leave a lot of our bases around the world because the host nations won't pay us to be there.

God bless you.

Trump is Trump. He is proud he wanted the housing market to collapse. he is proud of his bankruptcies and not paying those who he owed. He is proud of short paying so many vendors in the past. This is simply good business, according to Trump. And he would like to run the country as he runs his businesses. Obviously, his family would have important jobs.

And the American people can decide whether it is OK for the president to pay ZERO federal US income taxes. Trump has often said he was proud of paying very little federal income tax. it seems likely that he paid none at all. His effective tax rate was almost certainly lower than Romney's 15% average, for which he received criticism (unwarranted).

The US believes that having bases and hospitals in Germany are critical to US security. Trump disagrees. The US believes that a US presence in South Korea is necessary for US security. Trump disagrees.

Trump has a short business window. The US bottom line (and debt) would definitely be less in the next fiscal year if we were not in these countries. Of course, the US has different interests that the business bottom line.

It seems to me that in the history of his business dealings Trump has done next to nothing to contribute to the welfare of the nation in terms of expansion of employment and income. In actual fact I think that a case could be made that his "contributions" have actually been negative.

Ok I didn't watch the whole debate bc I live in Canada but I watched a lot of it on YouTube. How come he was allowed to KEEP interrupting? And how come he didn't have the common sense to not interrupt & say something that made him look even more like a narcissist? I mean saying that just admits why he doesn't want to turn in his taxes, admits that he doesn't care about anybody but himself, is a total hypocrite. Plus it shows he's got no manners.

Just like Rockafeller during the Great Depression. Men of business sense see these things coming, prepare for them, and take advantage of them. As long as he wasn't manipulating the market to cause the collapse (and he didn't, they warned us about it for years beforehand) I don't see the problem with it.

Yes, it is business. Trump didn't cause any of it.

Let's remember that Hillary blamed home owners for the housing problems they had .

I don't fault anyone for capitalizing on bad situations. That type of entrepreneurial attitude makes this country great. But hoping for a bad situation so that you can capitalize on it sounds sociopathic to me.

If you think the Clintons are pristine, your not living in reality but fantasy.

Is it ever right to wish for lower prices?

I hope gas prices drop - "How can you hope for instability in poor countries like Venezuela and Angola? You monster!"

I hope corn prices come down - "Why do you hate farmers? You monster!"

I wish movie ticket prices were lowered - "Do you want to see minimum wage employees at cinemas and studios lose their jobs? You monster!"

I hope Apple stock crashes so I can buy in - "What do you have against retirees living off of their investments? You monster!"

Interesting list here.

BAD JUDGEMENT? IF you vote for Hillary and Kaine, I hope you know the answers to these questions?

1. When did Hillary know her husband was a serial abuser, and does she feel guilty for destroying his accusers?
2. Explain precisely the trades made in the Cattle Futures scandal where $1,000 was turned into $99,000 in a matter of weeks?
3. Why didn’t she do anything to protect the Americans in Benghazi?
4. Who is Saul Alinsky and why was he her mentor?
5. When she was working on Watergate, why did her boss Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, call Hillary a “liar” and “an unethical, dishonest lawyer” and have her fired?
6. What really happened with Travelgate?
7. What really happened with the Rose Law Firm?
8. What really happened with WhiteWater?
9. What gave Hillary the right to see private FBI files of her political enemies in FileGate?
10. Why won’t she turn over her illegal server with state department e-mails to congress?
11. Why does your foundation accept money from avowed terror states?
12. What is her take on the Vince Foster “Suicide”?
13. Why did she think she was entitled to steal the White House furniture when she left?
14. Why do you lie even about things that mean nothing: lying about being under sniper fire in Bosnia, lying about being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, or lying that your grandparents were immigrants.
15. Should America be concerned that in ChinaGate, the 22 people that were convicted of fraud or for funneling Asian funds into the DNC were associates of Bill Clinton?
16. Did selling stays at the Lincoln Bedroom to political donors make you feel like a wh)o(re?
17. Does Hillary think Juanita Broadrick lied when she said on national news that Bill Clinton raped her?
18. Is she still okay that Bill goes to pedophile island with Jeff Epstein?
19. Why are there so many murdered and suicide people in the Clinton’s immediate circle?
20. Doesn’t the fact that the Clinton Foundation has to amend 5 years of its tax returns for improper reporting imply that you were involved in an illegal RICO enterprise?
21. Doesn’t approving the Russian-owned Uranium One deal as secretary of state–because of illegal contributions to your foundation–in fact make you a traitor to this country?
22. Was it wise to have at least four Clinton Foundation board of directors that have either been convicted or charged of the financial crimes of bribery and fraud?
23. Why, Hillary, did you pay your female senate staffers 72% of what you paid your male staffers?
24. When you represented an accused pedophile rapist, why did you laugh when you got him off even though you believed him to be guilty?
25. She said she had one e-mail address, it came out that she had two; She said she had one device, it came out that she had two: She said none of her e-mails on her private server was classified, but when the State Dept handed over 300 e-mails the FBI redacted large sections of one, proving again she was wrong. Thus, Ms. Clinton, are you incompetent or just a congenital liar? http://americanupdater.com/hillarys-campaign-team-are-going-crazy-as-this-video-has-gone-viral/

To be fair it is business. Now if Trump was a politician at the time I would have an issue, since they have a duty to be concerned about the people. Unless one can demonstrate Trump instigated the collapse, all this is is a businessman seeing the possibility of a housing bubble collapsing and the potential business opportunities.
