• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Psalm 42:5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

Psalm 91:2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

I am broken, confused, anxious, hurting. Yet in all this I find Gods love. The apostle Paul said that he gloried in distress because the power of Christ would rest on him. I believe this power is Gods love. It took me a very long time to learn this, but I finally learned that the Lord truly is my refuge. It something we can and will learn.

Put trust and hope in the Lord today. Never give up, there is so much hope. Greater is he that is in us than he who is in the world. That's what the Lord Himself said. Jesus is our refuge. ITs Gods most precious and blessed gift to us. God doesn't abandon hurting people, he loves them.

This scripture might sound like a cliché at times, but its true and refers to Gods love that we can find in him. Its not always easy waiting on the Lord, but its what David in the scriptures teaches us to do, and it must have been what Paul did as well. Its what I do, and although I have many uncertain times, and my faith seems so weak, I still find Hope in the Lord. Right now, although I am full of sorrow, I also feel so full of hope and Gods mercy that I feel compelled to share it. God is with us, never give up hope. God is our strength. He will strengthen us.

2 Corinthians 6:10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

2 Corinthians 12:8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong

Romans 5:3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Hello W2L (and others reading this),

I have a few 'go-to' songs when in deep distress. Here's one of them. May we be His Hands and arms to help hold you while in pain.

Thanks for sharing. I believe I have heard that song before. Its agreeable. I have been there many times. I'm glad you shared it. Love endures all things, even times when "now is not the right time."

Are you feeling any better today?

I really like this song.

I was feeling good yesterday. I had problems yes, but Gods sustaining grace was with me through it. Sometimes we must wait on the Lord too. That's how I feel today, like I need to wait. Thanks for another song. I look forward to hearing it.

To be God's child is all that matters brother. There is a blessed life for those who look at Christ and not at themselves and don't judge neither other nor themselves but walk under grace and in each part where there is distress within await The Lord to rescue them. It is best to remember that salvation is never an one off - for daily we need to die to sin - but a constant adding of the the chosen until all of us weak and miserable sinners have gone through the great tribulation and found New life in Christ letting go of sin and wrongdoing time and again.

Please remember that the Word does give us the book of Revelation (and Ezekiel for example,) so we do know what we are waiting for - and that is His loving truth to change us from mortal into immortal - for that is what life in His Word means brother - in the Word of God we find eternal life - nowhere else - for that is who Jesus is - the incarnated Word - we need to be dressed in that as well if we want to escape our fate as miserable sinners condemned to die.

So do understand that the flying Scroll spoken off by Zechariah 5 is very real and very powerful, as the book of Hebrews tells us as well (Hebrews 4:12-13) and that we need to be raised from the dead (see Ezekiel 37, Daniel 12 & Revelation 20 for example) - it is the living (it up) in us who are in most trouble, unless we have already been granted life in the Word for then we rule with Christ and have nothing more to fear in that part of our lives.

Isn't it is awesome how that goes brother? For in our deepest suffering self we are lifted to Heaven in a twinkling of an eye - time and again - and then when we have enough oil in our lamps we may join the wedding feast upstairs! What an awesome place that is - don't you reckon?

I love praising God in the Great Assembly! It is the very best place in existence and has humbled me like I have never been before I worshiped His majesty - flat on the floor for my flesh cannot sustain His nearness, for He is holy and I'm but dirt compared to Him. Yet what an awesome position to be in? To find life in the 24 elders (Revelation 4) and know for sure that I have always known God, as my very good life. (Revelation 5) From the very beginning of my life I have known Him who is my life. Yet only in the great Assembly I may mourn the Lamb of God in truth and honest sincerity for all the harm I have done Him with my sin, murdering the truth of my existence with the lies of the world down here. Just as Jesus was murdered 2000 years ago - our Crucified God makes so much more sense from that perspective. He is so very intimately woven into our existence that that only The Word can give us a clear perspective as to where within our lives we can find Him and be rescued from our distress.

So yes love, faith and hope remain like Paul explains to us. That is what I love to see in myself as well as in my brothers and sisters - faith in the love of God so that hope carries us away from our tormentors down here. How many have testified of His love? Yet the ears of those who are to perish remain tightly closed for not one of the numbered will ever enter the kingdom of Christ that is for very sure. Only a very small remnant will be able to enter the narrow gate - time and again you will see brother - Christ is a fiery refiner - for He baptizes us with the holy Spirit and great powers and not just with water for the forgiveness of sins as John the baptist brought us.

So be of very good courage and await Christ through your darkest hours for those who have called on His name will certainly be saved, no matter how grim the situation might look right now and understand that Eternity is not to come - it already is and has always been and will always be - that is how eternity exists - to think it God is a God off the future only denies the present and the past, and God sure doesn't like it when we do that to Him.

This is where I'm at in my life. I have been granted 100 percent faith and trust in Jesus as someone who loves Him and daily works at bringing in the Chosen. I have rule over my whole inner world of being from Zion along with Christ and love how His Victory over darkness brings me back my good life even though I've been stricken by mental illness and PTSD. (See Ezekiel 36-48 for a detailed description about how all this takes place.)

I know that it is a very complex thing salvation, but also very frightening for the evildoers who never listen or obey His Word - for they know their time is short. That is why the wicked in me kill(ed) the chosen - just like the Roman Caesars did with the early Church - having them torn up by wild animals (psalm 22) and even drinking their blood - thinking she (the daughters of Babylon (Isaiah 49)) could steal their eternal life from the God's children that way. (Revelation 17)

So please be very careful participating in any spiritual genocides, no matter how stained by sin you might be - that is all I can say about that. The seven thunderclaps of Christ's apprearing will take care of those things within you can be assured of that. Neither be surprised that your enemies are members of your own (inner) household, rather trust nobody - not your own thoughts or ideas either - to get you away from this miserable existence - apart of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, dead and buried but risen on the third day - only by finding life in the eternally enduring Word of God can you ever hope to escape brother, that much I know for 100 percent certain.

Like Jesus predicts in Matthew 24 one will be taken and one will be left behind - how true that is 50-50 100 percent of the sheep in us saved and 100 percent the goats in us destroyed what an awesome thing to await Him when our sins have convicted us and we seek shelter in Christ's blood, for it sure tells us that we will one day walk free if we don't give up (Revelation 21:1-8)

Be blessed awaiting Him in your life brother, and please do let The Word take you away from your miserable hurting life - time and again - until all of you has entered into His glory. You cannot lose brother - even when we are unfaithful He remains faithful still what an awesome God we serve don't you reckon?

I'll share you an old favourite of mine

I have to clean and pack. I will try tomorrow. It is so hot here. At least, today I had a mango ice cream parfait sundae, pizza, and salad. I am happy for now.

The translation company is checking my trial article that I proofread.

I don't know what to expect.

But, God is good. I can't afford much but eat out once a week. I am grateful to God for this. I don't make much from my job. I like my job though so it is worth my effort. I do hope I can become a proofreader, but it is in God's hands now.

I wish I had my energy to do more activities. There was a festival in my town, but I was very tired from working and did not go since it was at night. I am still tired but have a week off since my company is also off for the week. I hope to clean my apartment at least.

I have to return to work again after a week and work until I move.

I am grateful for my job even though my pay is a pittance.

I am praying for my next job.

I believe, God is looking after me. God is good. I have no major problems now and am truly grateful to God. I just have stress just like everybody else. Oh well. I'm going to sleep on it.

Sorry, I put this post here. I thought it was another thread called,"What are you feeling?"

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:3, 1984 NIV)

The effects of depression (and other things) can certainly hammer a person down to where they are poor in Spirit. It has helped at times to recognize that I have experienced poverty of Spirit (more than I would have preferred) and that I can look forward to huge blessings from God. God experiences our pain with us.

Amen, some people might try to cast more burden on us by saying depression is a curse, or lack of faith, but that's not true. Grace is given, and no matter what the reason, we are all sinners and God helps us all. The apostles endured much hardship, and depression too, but they learned to find strength in the Lord. All things work good for those who love God, and the cross is our blessing. If not for the cross, where could we go with our burdens?

What I appreciate is your openness. It encourages. I certainly do NOT have it all together.. .I'm relying on grace too.

The last few contributions have had meaningful verses. Isaiah 53: 1-3 NIV

Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.

W2L, you are in good company.

W2L. I am depressed today. I sought solace in another person but she has her own problems and when I greeted her I got a neverending supply of her complaints, the same thing I hear from her every time I speak to her. Sometimes she listens. but mostly the time with her is spent with me listening to her problems which are a repeat of the last time. I do not mind letting her vent to me but today I needed someone. So after that was over I felt worse. And God does what he always does when I get this way, he led me here (here being somewhere where his word is being spoken, not necessarily to this forum, but today it was this spot, your post). It reminded me of what I already knew. You reminded me. When I feel lost my thinking is not up to par and I feel myself sinking into despair. I am still sad but no longer in despair. It takes very little to pull me back up, I usually just need something to remind me God is here with me and I am not alone. So this post is thanking you for being a part of helping me today. I don't even remember what was making me sad. It doesn't matter anymore because I have God. Thank you whoever you are. :) Glory to God but a thanks to you.

Thank you sister. Its my hope that we can help each other like that. Often I find that when I'm in distress or sadness, or even confusion, that if I wait on the Lord he wil in time strengthen me and show me the right way again. I find the Apostle paul's teaching to be very insightful and helps me. That teaching is for us all. God's strength and power is made perfect in our weaknesses, in our distresses and hardships.

God is generous, he loves us and does not forsake us. I have seen many dark battles in myself, but he never gave up on me. Hope in Christ is real sister. We are blessed, even if we don't see it.
