None of us can know the answer. Many Christians share in the hope of God's redemption for all.
And they should!
Unfortunately this is not always the case...

I didn't vote, yet, but i don't know either.
Perhaps it even boils down to our (us humans) own choice.
Let's say when someone still hates God when they see Him after our inevitable physical death.

I hope EVERYBODY will make it, see God, get repaired, set straight, have his Love and dwell in Heavenly Paradise.

Tell me, because I find this incredibly saddening.

Based on this line of reasoning, can a convicted murderer not just pray and be forgiven and welcomed to heaven? Do you know if Hitler did not just pray and ask forgiveness before he died and when you die you will find him in heaven?

This is what deeply bothers me. That the most immoral person, regardless of whether or not they changed in morality, can simply ask for forgiveness, and be welcomed in to heaven as if they were the pope. And then on the flip side, the most moral person, who can donate to charity, feed the homeless, care for the sick, can reject the position of god and fail to ever ask for forgiveness, and be sent to hell and treated as if they were Stalin.

Not sure why the "saddening".

There IS Light shining in darkness, and that Light is Jesus the Christ.

"him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." ~John 6:37b

He ALREADY has made a way. There is no other. There is no reason to be "saddened", but to embrace the grace He extends. To be told of this inexplicable grace and then to reject it, well yes, that is not only inexplicably sad.

it's tragic.

Yes, but it's difficult.
Human nature is opposed to the Gospel.
And that's one of the reasons for redemption in Christ.
For in one man the world fell, but in one Man the world is redeemed by God.

Yes, my friend. All the more reason for thanking God for His inexplicable grace. If He can turn my heart, mind, and soul towards Him and prompt me to embrace His grace, He can do the same for anyone.

Well, He is either having a difficult time at it with yours truly here, or maybe He just takes his time to do it thoroughly...
Our personal will is involved, and many things are not so clear to us humans either...

I don't know what you have to do to go to hell. But what about a person who is very moral, who loves people, and who spends their life doing good. Let's say this good person never heard of Jesus or Christianity, and they never had a religion. But they were such a well meaning person with a good heart. Would someone like this go to hell? I really don't believe they would.

As for someone who did terrible things, such as Hitler...
God will accept anyone who will truly repent and ask for forgiveness. But, if Hitler just one day realized he was getting kinda old and he said "Hey God, if you're real, can I be sorry so I can come to heaven? 'cause I don't feel like burning in fire please."
That's not repentance. Repenting is about being truly sorry in your heart and trying with God to turn away from sin.
But still, it's not for me to say who's in and who's out.

He is faithful. If we seek Him with all of our hearts He WILL be found brother, and He is a DELIGHTFUL God.

Praying brother.

I chose the first option because it is what the Bible clearly teaches. It is not, however, solely the fate of the unrepentant atheist, but of all unrepentant sinners.

Romans 2:5-6 (NKJV)
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who
"will render to each one according to his deeds"

Matthew 10:28 (NKJV)
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Psalms 5:4-5 (NKJV)
4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You.
5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.

Mark 9:43-44 (NKJV)
43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched--
44 where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.'

The Book of Henoch Chapter 94
9 They have committed blasphemy and unrighteousness,
And have become ready for the day of slaughter,
And the day of darkness and the day of the great judgement.

10 Thus I speak and declare unto them:
He who hath created them will overthrow them,
And for their fall there shall be no compassion,
And The Creator will rejoice at their destruction.

Henoch [Chapter 99]
11 Woe to those who spread evil to their neighbours;
For they shall be slain in Sheol.

13 Woe to you who build your houses through the grievous toil of others,

[Chapter 96]
5 Woe to you who devour the finest of the wheat,
And drink wine in large bowls,
And tread under foot the lowly with your might.

[Chapter 100]
9 Woe to you, ye sinners, on account of the words of your mouth,
And on account of the deeds of your hands which your godlessness as wrought,
In blazing flames burning worse than fire shall ye burn.

[Chapter 98]
4 I have sworn unto you, ye sinners, as a mountain has not become a slave,
And a hill does not become the handmaid of a woman,
Even so sin has not been sent upon the earth,
But man of himself has created it,
And under a great curse shall they fall who commit it.

[Chapter 103)
5 Woe to you, ye sinners, when ye have died,
If ye die in the wealth of your sins,
And those who are like you say regarding you:
'Blessed are the sinners: they have seen all their days.

6 And how they have died in prosperity and in wealth,
And have not seen tribulation or murder in their life;
And they have died in honour,
And judgement has not been executed on them during their life."

7 Know ye, that their souls will be made to descend into Sheol
And they shall be wretched in their great tribulation.
8 And into darkness and chains and a burning flame where there is grievous
judgement shall their spirits enter;
And the great judgement shall be for all the generations of the world.
Woe to them, for they shall have no peace.

Chapter 98
13...Woe those who rejoice in the tribulation of the righteous; for no grave
shall be dug for them.

Woe to those who write down lying and Godless words; for they write down their lies that men may hear them and act Godlessly towards their neighbour. Therefore they shall have no peace but die a sudden death.

May Jesus bless you all HalleluYAH

This one is more of, what you think will happen to them after death.
I voted "I don't know", based on Paul's words:
For what have I to do with judging outsiders?...God judges those outside.
As I understand the scriptures they'll face the judgment of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25. And that judgment is strictly Jesus's call.

Modern Christians like to default to the "only Jesus knows" response to who is saved but Scripture doesn't leave us wondering. It is very clear about who is and isn't a Christian and how one can tell the difference. The apostle Paul wrote,

2 Corinthians 13:5
5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

Why would Paul write such a thing if it is impossible to know if one is actually saved or not? Why bother to test oneself if only Jesus really knows who is saved? The apostle John seemed to think as Paul did; that one can know if one is saved or not.

1 John 5:11-13
11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

If one can test oneself and see if one is truly saved, if one can know one is really born-again, then it seems to me it is possible to make that assessment of others. One's salvation cannot be kept a secret. If one is truly born-again, it will inevitably show up in how one lives and the attitudes one adopts. The writers of the New Testament certainly thought this:

Matthew 7:17-20
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Romans 6:22
22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Ephesians 5:8-10
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

1 John 3:14
14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.

Jeremiah 15:16
16 Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.

Romans 8:16
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God...

1 John 2:3-6
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
