Dear friends, I’m happy to be back with all of you and trust that the Lord has been blessing you and keeping you :). Please accept belated New Year’s wishes to all of you and may the Holy Spirit lead all of us into a deeper intimacy with the Heavenly Father and make us more productive in His service. I know that all of us revere the Lord enough not to accuse or insult Him directly. For example we won’t do anything stupid or brash and tempt the Lord by forcing Him to bail us out (Luke 4:12). However, are we subtly insulting Him by not expecting Him to do what we consider impossible? In other words we won’t ask the Lord to do anything for us other than what we can do ourselves. If that’s been our attitude (I’m guilty of this from time to time) then let’s renew our minds (Romans 12:2) and not limit our Heavenly Father in our earthly minds and attitudes

Please turn with me to 1 Kings 20:28. This text of scripture from 1 Kings 20 was the words spoken by the Prophet of God to Ahab the King of Israel. The Arameans led by King Ben-Hadad had previously attacked Israel and were routed by Ahab's young officers(1 Kings 20:13-21). However, Ben-Hadad’s advisers counseled him to raise another army and attack Israel the following spring on the plains. Their reasoning was that Israelites were mountain people and their God was only effective on the hills and not in the valleys (1 Kings 20:23-25). What they failed to understand was that God Almighty is a God for all terrains and situations. Israelites had such a puny army that they literally camped like a small flock opposite the Arameans who swarmed over the whole countryside (1 Kings 20:27). King Ahab who had been fore-warned by the Prophet that Ben-Hadad would attack again (1 Kings 20:22) obviously knew his limitations in open field combat and was worried until the Prophet rebuked him for limiting God’s omnipotence through his limited thinking (1 Kings 20:28). Aren't we all doing the same? We ask God to bless our jobs and families and can’t and don’t expect Him to do any further.

Let’s look at an example from the New Testament. This is the well-known story of Lazarus’ resurrection (John 11:38-44). Lazarus had been dead for some-time and the Lord deliberately delayed His arrival at the scene so that He could perform a miracle to bolster His disciples’ faith (John 11:14-15). All sorts of theories and whispers were going around with some questioning the Lord’s ability to prevent Lazarus’ death (John 11:37). This again indicated diminutive thinking on their part for they limited God’s Power to preventing death and didn’t consider God capable of accomplishing the more impossible task of resurrecting life from death. The nearsightedness of Mary and Martha was also equally evident. Mary was sorrowful when she accused the Lord of not being there because she thought that His physical presence would have prevented Lazarus’ death. Mary failed to understand that mere faith in the Lord Jesus would’ve been enough to save Lazarus from dying (John 11:26). Martha’s thinking was equally flawed because she thought it was impossible for the Lord to raise a stinking and rotting corpse back to life (John 11:39). The Lord had to again gently rebuke Martha and bolster her faith (John 11:40). This narrative in the scriptures is yet another instance when even the most faithful disciples doubted the Lord.

Sometimes God does want us to test Him and challenge Him so that He may open our eyes to the limitless possibilities that He has waiting for us (Malachi 3:10). It sounds very pious and holy to say that we wouldn’t put the Lord to a foolish test which is indeed correct. But sometimes God wants us to step out and reach out to Him and believe in Him to do the impossible (Isaiah 7:12). This New Year let’s not box God up but let His Power be channeled through us. Let’s challenge the Lord and ourselves to let rivers of life flow through us unto others (John 7:38). Amen. Have a blessed New Year saints.

Saints, my intention in this writing was only to illustrate some concepts and not incriminate anybody in anyway. I apologize if some or all of this content offended you in anyway, as my intention was quite the opposite

Dear friends, I’m quite certain that all of you are sanctified, Holy Ghost baptized saints. Should there be any among you that don’t know the Lord yet, I pray that the Lord of the Universe will set you free from sin and disobedience into His glorious light and freedom. Amen.

PS: Thanks for taking the time to read my scribble saints. If you find a lot of similarities between this writing and those of Rev. Oswald Chambers, that’s because the late Rev. Chambers is my mentor. Dear friends, please forgive me if I don’t respond to your mails and debates. I’m a full time college professor and haven’t the time to debate (that and I’m not very good at it.) “…all things are possible for him/her who believes (Mark 9:23).. ”. Amen.
