Lets pretend:
I'm a vegan, I am morally and very very vocally opposed to farming and butchering of animals for human consumption or otherwise. I see that my local butcher has an opening for a position in his shop. On my application and during my interview I make it very very clear that I am a vegan and am opposed to the business practices at the place I have applied for.

When I get told that because I am unwilling to handle animal meat, clean up after the butchering of said meat or do anything in regards to making a sale of said meat I will not be hired I seek a lawyer.

In the words of a internet meme: U Wot M8?
Exactly.

Discrimination seems to rule the day in some circumstances. Funny how that is acceptable when the person discriminated against is someone deemed unworthy.
She was unwilling or incapable of doing the job she applied for, thus she wasn't hired. That is not discrimination. Refusing to serve people because you don't like their beliefs or lifestyle? That is discrimination.

She is unwilling to do a certain part of the job. The law states she cannot be discriminated against for choosing not to perform tasks related to abortion including certain types of birth control.

That would make sense if she had applied for a job in an abortion clinic, which she did not. She applied for a position as a nurse midwife which has to do with delivering babies, not terminating them

She is unwilling to do a certain part of the job.

That means she's unwilling to do the job.

She's also to scientifically illiterate to understand the job and thus is unqualified.

Keep trying to make excuses for her trolling though.

The law protects her from being discriminated against for not doing that part of the job

Are you saying the hospital is somehow unworthy to use its resources according to its conscience?

Last I checked, the facility is doing so and hiring the nurse would not have changed that

Then you checked wrong -- hiring this nurse would've gone against the hospital's beliefs.

Should they be forced to pay to violate their conscience?

We're all forgetting the fundamentals....she shouldn't be apply for a job in the first place. God gave 2 different roles for man and woman (just read Genesis and the 100s of other verses). He didn't say Eve shall sweat and labor in the field.

We should go by the word of god, instead of man's own opinion.

And especially not woman's own opinion, in this case.

It's starting to look to me like the "health clinic" is actually a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic.

Seriously a normal health clinic wouldn't be obsessing over the fact she's pro-life.

Whatever you want to call it, you still can't compel it to violate its religion.

We may here the claim that abortion is now a religious belief. Let's wait and see

The particular position that she applied for was not delivering babies, but postpartum family planning which entailed prescribing effective birth control.

It is not Planned Parenthood and it is not an abortion clinic, but it is family planning.

The position she applied for was women's family planning which to a large degree is birth control. She is opposed to certain, standard birth control methods because she feels that they may be a form of abortion even though they are not. She was seriously unsuited to a job which is largely about birth control.

The job she applied for was nurse midwife. In other discussion we are always told that abortion is such a small part of what women's health clinics do. If that's so, then there should be plenty of jobs that have nothing to do with abortion

They call themselves, "Tampa Family Health Centers". So are they a Health Center? or are they an Abortion Clinic? If they are an abortion clinic, I agree, she shouldn't be trying to get a job there...but if they are truly a FAMILY HEALTH CENTER, there ought to be many more people getting well there, than dying....and there should be plenty of work for her to do!
