I believe it would be prohibited. I have no worries there. Even though the bible is not the reason I don't wear make up. I like to hear more Christians answer that one.

I believe there was an old Jewish tradition that humans were first taught to use cosmetics by the Watchers or fallen angels. The sons of god who lusted after the daughters of man. Apparently they dig women who wear make up. The book of Enoch mentions that. They also supposedly taught humanity how to forge weapons.

Indeed, and that tradition is Enochian. (Most Christians do not believe Enoch to be inspired, but it has very interesting similarities to myth and cultural history of other ancient societies.)

The story basically picks up from Genesis 6, and greatly details events leading up to that, and after. Fallen angels (Sons of God) mated with daughters of man (human descendants of Adam.) For those women that were loyal followers of the Fallen, they were given special attention and knowledge. This is where "witches, magi, sorcerers/sorceresses, and warlocks" origin their power sources. This isn't Wicca, this is "men/women, in exchanged for pledging allegiance and sexual submissivity to a Fallen would be given knowledge and power in exchange." It was a perversion of the Christian marriage ritual in which one submits one's self to God, and in exchange receive Eternal Life, and Perfection. (Nothing is new under the sun.)

Part of this knowledge was an incredible understanding and application of advanced chemistry, physics, astronomy/astrology, and metallurgy. These Fallen taught both men and women how to make weapons for the purposes of at least having a snowball's chance in Hades of being a host for the Fallen: despite implied belief, the Fallen were not all buddies, but competitors trying to establish dominance on Earth (think the gods.)

Many of these Fallen (if not all) kept their godly appearances, able to transform into entities of light, and exhibiting other "godly" attributes.

images

This is one of many interpretations of "archons," or Lords/Rulers - typically thought to be from Heaven. Notice the "energy" seeming leaking from the eyes, as well as radiating as ethereal and electrical energy around the body and out of the hands.

8:1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and daggers, and shields and breastplates. And he showed them the things after these and the art of making them: bracelets, and ornaments, and the art of making up eyes and of beautifying the eyelids, and the most precious and choice stones, and all (kinds of) coloured dyes. And the world was changed.

8.2 And there was great impiety and much fornication, and they went astray, and all their ways became corrupt.

8.3 Amezarack taught all those who cast spells and cut roots, Amaros the release of spells, and Baraqiel astrologers, and Kokabel portents, and Tamiel taught astrology, and Asradel taught the path of the moon.

8.4 And at the destruction of men they cried out, and their voice reached heaven.

Notice the "el" suffixes - these were angelic names meaning (prefixed name) "Of/Unto/As God." For example, Micha-el's name means, "Who is like - unto God"

Most likely, these practices were taught to humans to 1) have them emulate the image of the Fallen, and 2) because the Fallen just used them as props for the building of their own empires. Usually, the makeup was made with lead, or other heavy metals - which would cause serious health problems for humans. Going back to the picture of the archon, it should be understandable why a smoky eye makeup would be pushed upon men and especially women - to remove them as the image of God, and imprint their own images through [Hu]man.

Tattoos come from similar practices, as does cutting hair. It began as a ritual to honor and respect the dead - a mourning. Even after "the gods left, (as they did in Phoenician, Sumerian, Ancient Greek and Persian culture,)" these practices were still carried out - expecting that one day the gods would return. During the time of the Hebrews, and Moses, they were strictly prohibited from participating in these activities that would entice divination, promote ritual sacrifice, and other abominations against the Most High. In other words, they could not follow, or claim to follow the Most High if they did these things. In terms of getting a tattoo for fun - I would think that is something one and one's Creator would have to talk about. But, the history is rooted in occultism.

But isn't against the bible? You have a Christian sign on your profile, so I'm not getting how you think it would be okay.

No, it's not against the bible. I think it's been explained why it's not against the bible.

Being a Christian doesn't mean I can't have a tattoo, nor does it mean I can't drink. It doesn't mean a lot of things that legalists try to make it mean.

Blind post.

Not surprised. I'm no fan of tats, but I also don't really care either. While they are heavily discouraged in my faith, it's not what Robertson is making it out to be either, and nobody is condemned for having them. I know plenty of good Christian people with tattoos. However, when people go on about even religious tattoos, I am heavily reminded of one of my favorite authors, Flannery O'Connor, and her short story, 'Parker's Back'. In fact, I think everyone should read it.

Here's a link to the text:

Many cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy have received tiny tattoos to help the radiation therapist accurately aim the radiation at the treatment area. I guess if someone like Pat Robertson was so pharisaical to view all tattoos as being heathenish, then that would apply even to them. I personally am not fond of Jesus tattoos or of most other designs for that matter, but that's why I'll never get one on my own skin.

In many US states and in the Canadian provinces you have to be 18, in any case (although in some states it's younger than this with parental permission, I think).

In order to be consistent Pat should also require circumcision for salvation. He might get some resistance from say Jesus or Paul though.

You mean, to apply the Leviticus verse would imply being under the law?

I see what you mean. The Leviticus verse would possibly seem to have pagan necromancy as its context in any case.

Tattoos are unbiblical and only fit for heathens -- even if the ink portrays Jesus or other religious subjects, according to Pat Robertson.

During a “Bring It On” segment of The 700 Club, the televangelist responded to a viewer who said his friend was considering getting a tattoo of Jesus. "Does that make it okay?" the viewer asked.

“It doesn’t make it okay because it’s religious, believe me,” Robertson responded. “I mean, it could be a tattoo of some hoochie-cooch girl. It doesn’t really make any difference.”

When you use expressions like "hoochie-cooch girl," it's time to wake up and smell the dementia, and head off into the sunset.

Only reason I don't have a tattoo is because I haven't found a design I like that won't look like crap when I get older.

So? By then your eyes will be too bad to see how it looks, and your ears will be too bad to hear other people's comments. Go get you some ink!

My post was regarding small freckle-sized tattoos that are inked on cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy treatment to help define the treatment field rather than ones you'd get discretionarily at a tattoo parlor, so the traditional laws regarding tattoos are not applicable. Pediatric patients have received them, though when possible it's preferable to draw the dots with ink instead. It's not against the law when it's medically necessary. My dad is an oncologist so I've learned from him. Tattooing is halachically prohibited, but medical need supercedes this prohibition, so observant Jews have received tattoos for radiation therapy. Most Christians also wouldn't have an issue with such a tattoo, but with someone like Pat Robertson who knows.....

Pat Robertson Says Even Jesus Tattoos Are Only For Heathens

Has Robertsom read any of the 100 verses in the Bible concerning judging others?

Those verses apply to not being a hypocrite about judging. There's also a passage that says the bible useful for correcting and rebuking. One MUST judge an action in order to correct and rebuke.

While I TOTALLY disagree with Robertson's view on this, I am so tired of people throwing those judgment passages around as proof that we're not supposed to tell anyone they're wrong.

Does this mean you do have one or you don't...(not that it matters to the argument, one way or another... :) )

I will (probably maybe) when I find the right design. I love them, though.
