As someone who's just now starting to be able to say "God-given sexuality" without it sounding like an oxymoron, I'd like to pass on some revelations that God gave to me and others I've beeen in contact with.

"Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: 'The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.'

Yet, in Matthew 5, Jesus upped the ante quite a bit when He said that lustful thoughts were adulterous.

Since Jesus was God incarnate, it stands to reason that He wouldn't be the author of confusion or hypocrisy. It also stands to reason that God wouldn't want us to associate shame and guilt with a desire that He, through Christ, gave to us.

By raising the bar so high, Jesus was doing two things: making us realize how often we fall short and how much we need Him as a Savior, and He was "upstaging" the Pharisees by showing them that they weren't as nearly as good as they thought they were at keeping the Law.

Yes, God does want us to attain a higher level of physical and mental purity, but the sanctification process is exactly that--a process. A Private doesn't get promoted to Sargeant overnight. It takes time, persisitence, and the support of a higher-up who wants to see you improve and who doesn't want you to quit so easily.

Just some brief words of wisdom for those who might need it.
