• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi Amaui. You cannot commit the unpardonable sin if you have accepted Jesus as your Saviour and Lord so you do not need to worry about it. The unpardonable sin is not wanting to be forgiven and remaining in that state until one dies. Jesus forgives all sin and anyone wanting forgiveness even blasphemy against God Jesus or the Holy Spirit. Praying for peace for you. God loves you and His promise is you are forgiven of all your sins.

That is not what Jesus teaches in the Bible. Jesus tells us in Matthew 12:31-32. So I tell you, people can be forgiven for every sin and ·everything they say against God [blasphemy]. But whoever ·speaks [blasphemes] against the ·Holy Spirit [ L Spirit] will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, ·now or in the future [ L neither in this age, nor the one to come].

He will forgive us of our sins but not all of the sins we commit are the same, which is why He gives us a clear and direct warning about blaspheming the Holy Spirit. This is the greatest sin one can commit and it is the one unpardonable sin and as Jesus says,it will not be forgiven now or in the future.

I mean no disrespect to you Warrior but I believe that the truth of the Bible should be spoken with boldness to all brothers and sisters. Sometimes the truth is not what a person wants to hear, but it is always what they need to hear.

All sins are forgivable for Christians. No Christian can commit an unpardonable sin. Also remember to who Jesus was speaking- unbelievers, not believers. Jesus' finished work on the cross completely frees us from all condemnation. Again, with emphasis, no Christian can or will.ever be condemned. To suggest such a thing would go against scripture.

So are you both saying that as Christians, we can't sin? The Bible speaks of
Backsliding and lukewarm Christians so to me, Jesus is saying that yes a Christian can sin.

Sure, as a child of God we should not sin as the bible very clearly states but yet we are flesh and blood living in a world that is constantly at war with us. We are bombarded by sins daily and it is easy to slip either it be on purpose or by accident because we are just flesh and blood and we do make mistakes. To believe that as Christians we never sin is to say that we are equal to Jesus Christ, who was the only one who ever walked blame less before God.

The one thing I like to point out to people that the bible says that all will stand before judgment one day.
Roman 14:10.So believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

It does not say that just sinners will be judged, it says all! If as Christians we never sin then the bible would not say that all must give account for the things we have done. When we commit ourselves to Jesus, when we ask to be forgiven it is only our past sins which have been forgiven and forgotten. It is the sins we commit from this point on that we will be judged for and I don't know about you. I have yet to meet anyone who has followed every single rule/law/commandment that is contained in the bible for as it is said in James 2:10...
" For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws. 11 For the same God who said, “You must not commit adultery,” also said, “You must not murder.” So if you murder someone but do not commit adultery, you have still broken the law".

Unless you are perfect, you will sin and because all sin ( except that one sin ) is counted as equal in the sight of God,from the smallest to the biggest. That little white lie you may have told someone is just as bad as killing someone.

Now. That being said. I honestly don't think that God expects complete and utter perfection from us because He knows that we are all going to slip up and that we are not perfect. But He does expect us to strive for it and to ask for forgiveness when we do slip up. The real problem arises when we stop trying to be perfect or we stop asking for forgiveness when we mess up. That is why we are to be humble before God and recognise that we are not perfect and that we need Him in this life because without Him. We are defenceless. It is only by the Holy Spirit that we have the strength to resist the desires of the flesh and the temptations of sin.

Remember. People say that they are saved because of their commitment to Christ. While that is true in a sense because the word says that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. However. We are not truly saved until we make it to Heaven ( Mat 13:13. All those who endure to the end shall be saved ) and as long as we are here in this foreign land. We are in danger of slipping back into our sinful past but, only if we allow it, if we stop trying and if we stop asking for forgiveness when we mess up.

No where in the bible does it say that once you are saved, you are always saved an no where in the bible does it say that we will never sin. It says that we should not sin but not that we will never sin and as I said. To think that we as Christians absolutely never ever sin is to say that we are perfect and equal to Jesus Christ.

To me, that is about as blasphemies as one could get!

Hi Kings servant

I strongly believe that both of them know firsthand about the need for God's grace. We all believe in a day of judgement as well and no one is denying the judgement seat of Christ when all our works will be tested. We also know that no one is justified by the law but by believing in Christ.

I agree that we can't make it on our own, we can't shake off the bondage of sin, that's why Jesus, the spotless Lamb, died for ALL the sins of those who truly believe in Him. Not just past, but present and future too - that is why NO ONE who is a true believer - a true Christian - will ever lose their salvation, not because of their holiness, not because of their works, but by the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Once you have been saved, truly saved, you will forever be saved, John 6:39. Everyone who is saved has been predestined to be saved before the foundations of the world Romans 8:30

Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
- Romans 8:33-34

that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
- John 3:15

Not really eternal when we are saved one day then lose it for a couple of months, or even permanently. There for it is biblical to say that no one who is saved will lose their salvation. Those who commit the unpardonable sin are those who were not true believers or were never believers in the first place.
Again, no one said we don't sin or we will never sin again (1 John 1:18). And far be it from anyone to equal ourselves with God. We are still in our bodies and we have a hope of righteousness (Galatians 5:5, Matthew 5:6). If anyone does sin we confess it to the Father. And again, justified in His sight by what He has done. Of course, we shouldn't lessen the fear of God, and choose to follow and be lead by the Holy Spirit.

I don't think we should be debating such matters on here any further. There are people here that are struggling and need help.
