I did not listen to these, but rather read the lyrics.

While there is nothing inherently wrong with the first one theologically, it is typical of the "praise and worship" fluff that exists in CCM today. Really nothing in the way of substantive teaching in that song.

The second one is a sort of Hymn of Praise, acknowledging the triune God and giving Him praise. And although it comes closer than the first one, it, too, is a bit soft on substantive teaching. The closest is this verse:
To the valley, for my soul;
Thy great descent has made me whole!
You word my heart has welcomed home;
now peace like water ever flows.

What exactly does the "great descent" refer? The incarnation? Christ's death and burial? Christ's descent into hell? All three?

I don't see any theological red flags with either of these, but I wouldn't use them in church.

I absolutely understand why you wouldn't use these in church, I am trying to choose a select few CCM to have on my phone, the majority consists of traditional stuff from amazon via Concordia publishing house. Thank you for your post rev.
