My Testimony

God has done some amazing things in my life…

I was raised in a Christian household. Then I accepted Christ into my life when I was in sixth grade.

As soon as I got old enough, I began to questions things. And I began to look at other world religions. I decided I was going to be an atheist; Jesus was just a good guy with some good ideas; but that I could do things on my own.

As you might expect, things did not go well living under those assumptions. I got into trouble at home, school, and with the law… and so I had to make some serious changes.

I accepted Christ more fully into my life. But for years I still lived a dual lifestyle. Going to church and praying occasionally, but not really living right with the Lord.

I had some good years and some very bad years… struggling the entire time. Thankfully, in business I was always more or less successful. But what I finally realized was that something was definitely missing.

It wasn’t until I joined a Small Group at Buckhead Church in Atlanta that I really began to see what it was…

And I watched all those folks getting baptized up on the big screen with tears in their eyes… it was like a light inside of me started to glow.

And then in Afghanistan, for the first time in many years, I was focused in a way I had never been before. And as you also might expect, I became VERY close to the Lord. Our missions were extremely dangerous… working with Special Forces and EOD to find, kill, or capture the bomb maker creating IEDs. There were a lot of life or death situations.

So renewed by my new clarity, I found that by living right with the Lord, though still struggling because I am only human, things went a whole lot better.

I made a list of ACTUAL miracles that happened while we were deployed. God was with me like I had never experience before…

And it changed everything.

It opened my eyes to a new life; a new life that was guided and driven by my relationship with Jesus. A life wide open where anything was and is possible...

A life with purpose…

…where I am constantly striving to “Live for the Lord.”

Then when I got back from Afghanistan, I cleaned up my life from sinful living and things got even better. I got promoted; started school for my Master’s degree; and even more opportunities opened up.

Then God performed an amazing miracle. In March of 2012, my Mom collapsed with a brain aneurism. They took her by air ambulance to Shands Medical Hospital in Gainesville, FL where they performed brain surgery. Thankfully she survived. But after being released and taken home to Sarasota, FL she fell again and hit her head. This time her brain swelled so fast they had to do brain surgery there in Sarasota.

Again…against all odds she survived. And after 11 days in a coma and 78 days in the hospital she was released home. Now you might think the miracle was God saving her. And that absolutely was one for sure… But the real miracle for me came afterwards.

See when she was in the coma, I desperately wanted to come home to be with her. The problem was that we were deploying to West Point in NY to train cadets. And my Unit needed me for weapons transportation. I could maybe have gotten out of it. But there was nothing I personally could do. Regardless, it was very painful and difficult for me. And I so wanted to be there…

So one day I was sitting in Arms Room (I was the Squadron Armorer) and I came across an Army Regulation on Early Separation. I did not remember saving it onto my computer. But upon opening it, I realized it applied to me. Keep in mind it is almost impossible to get out of the Army early. But as you can guess, and to make long story short, through God’s intervention I was able to come home when my Mom needed me the most. During her recovery at home...

I can honestly say that God has changed my life a full 360 degrees from where I started. Thanks to him I am a different person that I used to be…

…a better person.

Living a much better, happier, more fulfilled life.

With the sky as the limit…

I wear a bracelet that quotes Philippians 4:13. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

And I have absolute faith that that is true.

My story is a real life testimony to how it can happen for anyone.

Regular folks undergo extreme life change every day simply by letting the Lord Into their lives.

If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to follow the Words of my friend Joel Osteen who tells us to get in a good Bible based Church.
