The fact is that the gop do not represent the interests of minorities. This is why they are so proud of the few they can muster in their ranks.
I don't think either major party represents the interest of minorities (or the interest of the majority either for that matter
)
That's one democrat debating strategy that drives me nuts...call the GOP a racist party over and over again, then when a member of the GOP finally gets fed up and says "hold on, the GOP actually has many minority elected leaders", then the Democrats spin it and say "see, you're so self conscious about it, you have to mention that you have them in your party"
They make a false statement, then when you call them out on it, they use your call-out and try to twist it into some sort of self-affirmation for their preconceived notion.
It shows that statistics seldom results in 100% of any one thing. No one denies that minorities can become wealthy at which point their intersts are served by whichever party is most clearly aligned with the interests of wealth.
...again, another untrue statement. You make it sound as if the only reason a minority would back the GOP would be if they become wealthy.
Rubio only has a net worth of about a million dollars...not exactly "filthy rich"
It is equally a lie to assume that the dems are only interested in enslaving the nation to some made up meme of universal laziness caused by welfare.
I don't think anyone is assuming that welfare automatically causes laziness...a more accurate statement would be that it causes dependence.
As I pointed out before in a different thread, if you are going to take money from the taxpayers to provide assistance for others, it's better to put more of it toward education rather than welfare.
Clinton and Obama both came into office in similar circumstances...
Both took office during a tail end of near recession economies
Both inherited part of the bill for a Bush war
Both took office during times when social security expenditures were spiking
One ends up creating a $140 billion dollar budget surplus in 8 years
The other creates a $1 trillion dollar deficit in 3 years
1998-1999 Spending:
$300 Billion on healthcare (18% of the budget)
$200 Billion on welfare (13% of the budget)
$100 Billion on education (6.5% of the budget)
2011-2012 Spending:
$900 Billion on healthcare (25% of the budget)
$500 Billion on welfare (15% of the budget)
$100 Billion on education (3% of the budget)
...notice a difference in the spending patterns?
Look at it the same way you'd look at a situation with your own kids.
If you have a kid that's 20 years old and essentially broke, which would be a better plan and better use of your aid?
Give them $50,000 cash - no strings attached?
or...
Give them $15,000 cash and pay $35,000 for a college degree?
