Last year we found some feral kittens living behind our house. We weren't allowed to have indoor pets, but we started feeding them regardless. Eventually one of our neighbors, who works for a cat food company, donated cat food to us for this.
Three of the four kittens did not really tame up, one is semi tame and two others just went off on their own. But one stuck with us and followed us everywhere just like a dog. He would be waiting on the edge of his territory for us to come home then walk us to the door where we petted him, fed him, played with him, etc. He was like our baby.
We called him Oreo.
Last Wednesday was the last day we saw him. Yesterday we were told that there was a smell coming from under the porch of the coffee house next door. Today, they pulled Oreo out from under there.
He was just a few months over a year old. We don't have a clue what killed him, but our hearts are broken. We loved that cat. We had just gotten permission from our landlord to bring him inside too. But now he's gone.
Please pray for us to heal from this loss. I'm not the kind of person who can live long without an animal friend.
