Both sides are standing firm. Ask liberals the same question. The debt ceiling has been raised 74 times. I guess it's a bottomless money pit. Just like any other crisis, Dems are bringing out the doomsday defense to push more endless debt and taxes while the economy sides further. It's work well so far, right?

The ceiling will go up. We all know it will. No politician will sacrifice their chances of re-election to do what needs to be done.
No sacrifices by the average voter will be tolerated. No cuts in military spending. No cuts in federal monies for education. Can't touch the sacred cows of Medicare and Social Security.
And no politician has the cajones to do the right thing. So the ceiling gets hiked for a 75th time. Take it to the bank.
