Actually, I enjoy it quite a bit. Sometimes people act uncharitably— that does include me, a sinner as well—but you see that anywhere. And make no mistake, I do follow the teachings of the Catholic Church. Your sympathies are well-received in their intent (I think), but I'll have to respectfully decline.

Well, I wasn't speaking of anyone's moral position on the topic, just the rather superficial reaction to it.

Ah yes, I see what you're saying, I think. You're talking about the reaction on the OBOB thread, right? But then, you must understand their reaction to this section, since this thread started sniping at them. Doesn't feel good to be kicked while you're down and all that.:)

I have no sympathy for people who treat others like 2nd class citizens or worse, and try to use prayer and the Church to deprive millions of people civil rights in a secular country.

If Catholics don't want us disagreeing with their threads, they can stop trying to get God to treat gay people like dirt. We do not live in a theocracy. That prayer thread is no different than if I posted a thread praying that slavery is reinstated in the United States, or praying that Uganda's kill the gays bill passes. It's uncalled for and completely unChristian to treat people who do not agree with your views that way.

I understand your anger. Before I converted to Catholicism, I was pro-choice/pro-gay marriage/etc. Technically, though, OBOB was praying that NY did not change a law, rather than praying that it change its law.

I don't see how that's any different. It's no better than the Christians 50 years ago who prayed that the Supreme Court would not make interracial marriage legal. Those prayers failed too, much to the dismay of the anti-miscegenation crowd and much to the delight of civil rights supporters.

Is this Christianforums.com or the DU? I'm confused.

Is this westborobaptist.org or WWMC? I am confused.

Anyhow, congrats to everyone in NY!!!! Hopefully Californian LGBT's will get their rights back!

I don't really believe in heterosexual marriage, but I am proud of my state for doing the right thing. The NY legislature rarely gets anything right these days; they have redeemed themselves for once. Now if they would only pass a single payer healthcare plan.
