(Job 8:9) – Ever had someone say, “You think you know everything”? They were being sarcastic, taking a jab at you. They were reminding you that your knowledge is limited. You are only on this earth a short time and you know very little. Job says that you would be wise to learn from your parents and grandparents, and all the years they have already lived. They have felt the emotions you deal with and have struggled to make hard decisions. Listen to your ancestors and learn from their understanding. The more you listen, the more you learn.

God promises to give you something to laugh about. (Job 8:20, 21)

Are you a smiler or a frowner? Do you naturally notice happy things, or are you a walking vessel of gloom and doom? How about laughing? Do you remember the last time you laughed until your sides hurt, and you eyes watered, and you begged for mercy; you just couldn’t laugh anymore? However long it’s been, whatever your natural disposition, God promises to give you something to laugh about. He promises to walk right into your most depressing day and turn things around. God didn’t put you here to see how awful He could make you feel. He put you here to glorify Him and to enjoy life. So invite Him into your day and tell Him you really need something to laugh about. Watch Him do a miracle on your behalf. No heart is too hard, no day is too far gone, when the Maker of laughter keeps His promise.

(Job 9:2) - Most of us get into trouble by convincing ourselves that we’re okay. Basically good people. No major sin happening. No blatant disrespect. Decent in the workplace. Things at home are calm. So we’re sailing along just fine.
But Job says that no human is righteous (innocent) in the sight of God; and that’s true; before you get saved. When you become a Christian, God gives you a new heart. What you are dealing with is a sinful nature, not a sinful heart. In spite of the fact that you do (and will) sin, the great news is that God is more gracious than you could ever imagine, and you can be more accepted and loved than you ever hoped.

(Job 9:10, 11) - Job ponders the hugeness of God. His miracles are beyond our understanding. His creativity is awesome, and we are a part of it. His justice is supreme and fair. He is so amazing that He moves right past us, and we don’t even know it. He is closer than we could imagine, so why do we doubt His wisdom and His power? We have mistakenly believed that God is up there somewhere, far away, looking down. He seems remote and out of touch. Distant. But God is here. Intimate. So close. He moves right past you. Are you willing to trust the One who is beside you to care for you and to love you? His presence is real. His patience is incredible. Since He has already been with you all this time, why keep ignoring Him?
