Only the elect of God, for whom Jesus christ died and rose for, are called to repentnace in view of their remission of sins ! lk 24:

46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Only those who have had already their sins remitted by the blood of Christ, have a basis for repentnace.

Hi anthony55 , and how can dead people respond , when Paul says that they are dead in trespasses and sins .

For , Paul in 1 Cor 2:14 , writes that the " NATURAL " man receiveth NOT
the things of the Spirit of God , for they are foolishness unto him , neither CAN HE KNOW THEM , because they are spiritually discerned .

So , then how are we saved ?? Eph 2:8 a gift of God !!

Where is the repentance ???

Hi to all , and who in the bible is called to repentance ?

Doing a word study on this word , all will notice that it is Israel that is called to Repentance .

Why just Israel ??

Because they were in Covenant relatio0nship with Jehovah , thats is what is revealed in the word .

The Land was spilled with blood , the Priesthood was corrupted , and THEY always served other Idols and the Jews needed to be cleansed and believe what John the Baptized preached .

In Matt 3:2 and VERSE 11 , WATER is linked to Repentance .

Also , Acts 19:4 , John baptized with the Baptism of Repentance .

This is why there is ONLY one Gospel today , The Gospel of the Grace of God , Eph 3:2 and it is Grace + NOTHING and no water is allowed .

Repentance was for Israel ONLY .

Hi dan, I hope you remember me from HWG. I was just reading some of the Robt. Broch mat'l from you last nite. It's too bad many church leaders are dragging repentance over and mixing the Kingdom gospel with Paul's gospel of grace. I guess people just think they can cover their eyes, open their New Testament and just point to any passage and say, "There, this is speaking to us Christians because it is in the NT", never my which book or epistile it is from. If you listen to some of these preachers, repentance ends up really as a work. Then when they think they have done enough repenting, THEN they can believe. In Paul's epistles he talk about nothing but faith in Christ's sacrifice for our justification, faith plus nothing else required from us.

Only Those who are made to partake of the New Covenant Blessings are called to Repentance. Jesus Blood Shed was in for the Fulfillment and confirmation of the New Covenant, whereby all those [The Many] He shed His Blood for will receive remission of sins Matt 26:

28For this is my blood of the new testament [covenant], which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Thats why Repentance and Remission of sins should be preached in His Name lk 24:

46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Jesus through the Preaching of the True Gospel calls all who have had their sins remitted through His Blood to repentance, and they are the only ones the call to repent is issued to.

This is a flat contradiction of Acts 17:30, "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"

Yes, because all men everywhere will be made partakers of the New Covenat and have had their sins remitted by the New Testament in Christ Blood.

Abraham's Children of promise are of all the nations of the earth. This command is issued because of That.

Gen 17:

5Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

All of Abraham's seed everywhere will repent, thats a blessing of the New Covenant.
