I would love for you all to explain the way you voted.
Job wasn't a christian. I'm asking whether christians have authority over Satan.my vote is also for limited authority, as proven by Job.
All of the Old Testaments were not Christians however all of the Great Faith were looking forward forward the Messiah to come makes them Christians.Job wasn't a christian. I'm asking whether christians have authority over Satan.
I've editted the title of the thread to make that more clear.
As born again children of God we have complete authority over Satan. We are seated in heavenly places with Christ as He is seated at the right hand of God. There is nothing higher in authority than God, He is Lord, He is the owner. We are his children and our inheritance is the kingdom. Yes we have complete authority over Satan.
Is Satan sin? Is sin Satan? The question I asked was if we have authority over Satan, not sin.Does that mean you have complete control over sins that affects you and your family including death?
And I would say one of the reasons why they were looking forward to the Messiah is because they had no authority over Satan. All of the Old Testaments were not Christians however all of the Great Faith were looking forward forward the Messiah to come makes them Christians.
Excellent answer, couldn't agree more.I see satan as a little dog running behind me snipping at my heals. If I start running, he starts chasing me and he turns into a slathering doberman. If I start crying and screaming in terror, he turns into monster with giant fangs. If I start cursing God for sending the devil after me, he turns into a fire breathing dragon....
But, if at any time I turn, stamp my foot at him, and tell him to shooo in the name of Jesus.... he FLEES IN TERROR.
Point is, he only has as much power over you as you grant him by your faith and actions. If you are the little toe of the body of Christ, you are still on top of satan because satan is beneath the feet of Christ. As illustrated in the NT, the only sure fire way for the devil to "get" you is for him to stir up people against you. You have no choice but to endure persecution from those who hate Christ and serve satan.
I voted complete authority and my explanation is simple You turn on the lights does darkness argue with the light it's right to stay? Darkness is absence of light...so the more light we reflect of God's glory freely without inhibitions the larger the circumference around us kicking darkness out. God knew what He was talking about when He said we should be a city on a hill and not basket heads
I voted complete authority.
As Sharon stated from scripture, that was given to us by Jesus.
Quite exactly what that means is taking me some time to work out, but bear in mind authority and complete control are not the same thing.
