An immoral priest should be removed. Any sexual immorality should result in the priest being held accountable to the Church for his actions. Fornication with men (homosexuality) or with women and of course, pedophilia should be grounds for dismissal from the Church and removal from the priesthood

A priest is taking a vow of celibacy because of his dedication to Christ and the Church. What sort of Christian example can he be if he trashes Christ in his personal life through immoral behavior? The Bible is clear on this issue and such men are not to be leaders in the Church, and those who continue in their immoral sexual behavior are to be cast out of the Church as unrepentant sinners to be turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh that their souls may be saved

It appears from the evidence that there is a cult of immorality in the Catholic Church, which has continued, unchecked for eons. Obviously for such a cult to exist there must be help and acquiescence at the top echelons, which would lead one to suppose that many of the Cardinals and Bishops are themselves guilty of continuous unrepentant sexual immorality. This evidence of a cult is further strengthened as we note the sidestepping and ambiguity and lack of remorse coming out of the current Vatican Conference to address the sexual problems of the American Catholic Church.

Yes, thanks. This is a no debate forum.
We welcome everyone who wants to come here and have discussions about the Charismatic Catholic Renewal, even if you think we are a little bit nutzz or Charismaniacs as we use to be called.
We can count the reports we have had here on one hand, I believe. We are truly a loving and respectfull group.

I will try and answer any questions you might have but I do not think the topic you introduced is appropriate.

Blessings

I appreciate you telling me. I will remember that in the future and post more relevant topics if I should return to find out more about the Charismatic Catholic Renewal.

I hope you do return. And you are not the first to post this way, usually it is my Catholic brothers and sisters who do. In any event it is no big deal.

Like I said, we welcome everyone here. Not just Christians but also "seekers".

Please hang around and visit. You are very welcome :amen:

Well thankyou.

Briefly in synopsis what is Charismatic Catholic Renewal? Is this something new that is happening in the Church right now? Is it a large movement or just in its infancy?

it's not just priests.
my heart goes out to all manner of clergy who live in sincerity of faith and integrity of action. it seems for every one of them there are ten scumbags holding the same office who are out there swimming shamelessly in filth.
It may seem that way, but I think the media attention is blowing it way out of proportion. It is more likely that there would be 3 good priests for every bad one, but the bad ones are parlayed by a rabid liberal media as the norm for the Catholic church.

I really do not like addressing this topic but I will just this once and then beg you to move on.

Whether a Priest takes vows to the Church or a married couple take vows. Both promise to be faithful. Right? In the eyes of the Church, Holy Orders is a Sacrament and so is Matrimony. Both is for life, both go into these Sacraments for better or for worse.
Both face temptation. All parties are sinful humans. I do not know the percentage of either who break their vows but I would guess the percentages are pretty close.

The fact that married couples cheat does not mean the Sacrament of Matrimony is flawed nor does the Priest who cheats make the Sacrament of Holy orders flawed. It is us humans who are flawed. We need to keep all in our prayers.

That is all I have to say on the subject.
Blessings to you all.

Thank you,

I really did not want this topic to continue on the same vein, but is seems a question was asked that I felt should be answered. Sorry for messing up the intended scope of the forum.

If a Priest is proven to have commited sexual acts and even murder he will be laicized,A laicized priest, deacon or religious is an individual who has had their Ordinations or Solemn Religious Profession declared null and void. Such actions mean that a laicized priest, deacon or religious never held any clerical or religious rank within the Church. The Church can only spiritually laicize those whom it has ordained or permitted to profess vows as a religious.
For less serious acts he may just be suspended but smoking and drinking do not come under such offences.

Funny you should mention smoking and drinking. Some priests I have known whom I counted as friends were very heavy drinkers and smokers. I got the impression from them that such vices were common in the priesthood.
