Dear Ed, beloved of God,
ALL in Christ love you and God loves you,
[so who could ask for more?]
so we are all ears for the truth,
perhaps we could ALL just say our 'truths'
and then either ignore everyone else as being wrong
[we have the right to, after all, if that's what we choose]
and/or just keep saying 'well I'm right'....
But this really doesn't make for much progress toward the
truth for everyone
So it is not unreasonable to discuss WHY we believe the things that we say are true...
thus we have discussions and even occasionally come to agreement
we all learn from each other by seeing the points behind the arriving at conclusions....this gives us the chance to pick out errors that we all make in the process of coming to conclusions.
Thus, as a respect for each other we always back up what we say ,
[sometimes only if challenged when we think the point is uncontentious],
back up our view with WHY we say it, it is courteous and loving and helpful to do so.....constructive toward understanding!
If you really don't know why you believe something then just say so, that too will be accepted,[but it is not so interesting]
[i have visions for instance that many here would reject I think, but it would not stop us discussing them on the basis that they are [just] visions].
Thus to say ....my view is such and such
might throw out a challenge to someone who disagrees,
but the love comes into it when you DISCUSS why each of you has that view and maybe even resolve it.
....after all there is ONLY ONE truth and its going to blow us all away to hear it all at once one day!.
...till then lets respect each other and love each other by bravely telling each other how we came to our beliefs
....it's actually quite enjoyable and stimulating
...and we'd be hard pushed not to learn something new here,
I know that I have already and I've only been here a few days.
