• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

So, I was running today and feeling God's blessing upon me. I ran by the beach and it was beautiful. I just wanted to bless everyone around me. Runners and cyclers often tend to great eachother in passing with just a wave, gesture, etc. I was on a long, narrow stretch of trail and I passed a cyclist going the other way. As I passed, I attempted to greet him with a slight wave of the hand. It was the hand that held my water bottle and as I attempted to wave, the bottle began to slip. As I gripped the bottle tighter while waving at this guy, the only greeting he got was my middle finger!

My intent was to wave at him, but unfortunately he got the bird. He didn't come back and ask me why I flipped him off, and I'm convinced he didn't take it that way.

Why? Because in context, he knew my intent was a greeting. This may be a silly analogy, but don't you think that God knows our intents all the more and would certainly pardon things or thoughts that could be perceived as malicious despite the way things appear?

This really makes sense :) Hope it can help other people recover from OCD too. Im starting to have lessened OCD symptoms (thanks to God and the people here) and it could disappear within a few days or so (I have residual OCD so it disappears after a few weeks). :)

What really bothers me now are the Mental Compulsions ad the sudden thought that may be I had wanted to renounce God.. Nevertheless, I had a relatively better day now, thanks to your "Let go and Let God" phrase..:)

HI Marc,
Great analogy. Thanks for that. My husband is a blurter and sometimes things will pop out of his mouth in such a way that if people didn't know him better they could be very mad at him. But those who know him well never get angry at him because they know he means well.
