This thread is in response to DeadandAlive's comment on another thread for Thanksgiving:
i am sorry that this game is over.
i have so much to be thankful for and my mom too.
my mom is wallaby mom and she is not in her wheelchair anymore and she is walking. :)
sam

I thought it would be good to voice out thanksgiving thoughts on a thread. We all have alot to be thankful for, and I know for myself, in the bustle of everyday life, especially right now at this time for me, it's easy to lose focus on what is important. It's a real struggle to pull myself back and not look at the circumstances I am walking through, but I am doing my best. I found the following online and thought I'd share it:

These three go together in a very unique way. Can we even distinguish between thanksgiving and praise? Can they really be defined separately?
We see them joined together over and over in the Word. In the Psalms alone we can find songs of praise and thanksgiving for the results of prayer.

"Thanksgiving includes gratitude. In fact, thanksgiving is but the expression of an inward conscious gratitude to God for mercies received. Gratitude is an inward emotion of the soul, involuntarily arising therein, while thanksgiving is the voluntary expression of gratitude."
~ E.M. Bounds~

Gratitude is:
1.) what we feel in our hearts

2.) silent, secret, and passive
3.) arises from contemplating the goodness of God
4.) born of mediation of God's mercy and grace
5.) begets praise

Thanksgiving is:
1.) out in the open

2.) actually giving out of something to God
3.) giving to God in words what we feel for blessings received.
Both point to God and His mercy. So, how does love fit in? Love is born out of gratitude. It grows as we become more grateful, and eventually can't help but break out into praise and thanksgiving to God.
Psalm 116:1
"I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy."

Psalm 116:2
"Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live."

Gratitude and love lead to growth in prayer - both in frequency and in depth.
Romans 12:1
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship."
The more we see and acknowledge God's mercies we experience gratitude and it causes us to consecrate to God all that we have and all that we are.
Gratitude and thanksgiving always look back at the past, as well as take in the present. They deal with things received.
Prayer always looks to the future. It deals with things desired, asked for and expected. Prayer turns into gratitude and praise when things asked for are received from God.
We pray for things, and as a result of answered prayer, we experience gratitude and thanksgiving. Praise and gratitude, in turn, promote prayer and deeper praying.
SO, what is my point???
If we desire to conquer our complaining and murmuring spirit, then we must fill our hearts with gratitude and thanksgiving! As unappreciative spirit cannot occupy any place near gratitude and praise. To correct complaining and promote gratitude and thanksgiving, we need true prayer. One thing for sure is that dissatisfaction at one's lot in life and a disposition of discontent with things that come to us under God's direction are enemies to gratitude and thanksgiving!
Murmuring is proof of ingratitude. If we are grateful and appreciative, we won't have the time nor the disposition to stop and complain.
The Israelites grieved God with their complaining against Him and Moses. Only the prayers of Moses stopped God from destroying them in His wrath. They were not grateful - and of course could not have praise or thanksgiving. They forgot so quickly what God had done for them and became ungrateful. As it always does, their ingratitude gave birth to murmurings and lack of praise.
A challenge of necessity, then, is for us to assume an attitude of gratitude. That alone will change our hearts that so easily fall into ingratitude and pity parties!
Let us strive to daily set our minds on what He has done for us and enjoy days of praise!
So, I'll probably add more comments to this post as the days go by until Thanksgiving, but I'd like for us all to read this, and ponder it in our hearts. And, comment on it as well. Right now, in my life, I am doing the only thing I know how to do, the only thing I know that will work and that is to cry out to my Father. And, I know, even though I cannot see the evidence of Him hearing, deep down I know He has heard my cry, and will rescue me. He has to, I am His child. But, while I am walking through this place I am in, I am human, and yes, I doubt, but He never does..

**Blessings to be handed out at random ranging from 100 to 1,000 on Thanksgiving (or the day after).**

Thank you Father, for all the little things that I take for granted. These past few months have been a challenge for my family. On a personal level, I appreciate the spiritual growth. Thank you for food, shelter, and clothing. Thank you for that boy scout who scratched the truck, which ultimately opened an opportunity to forgive. Thank you for small crowded houses with one bathroom, for it teaches discipline and closeness.

Thank you for Jere209 and this thread. May Your loving hand be on her and the others here at this board.

~ Amen ~

First of all, thanks jere for this thread. this morning, this was the first one I read. It was a great way to start my day...

Father,
You know my heart better than I do. I have had doubts these past few weeks about a lot of little things. I forgot that you feed the birds you created yet they never plant what they would eat...I am sorry Father for being a worrywart at times. I thank You, Father for my husband, who has been reminding me and strengthening me in prayers that You will always be our Great Provider, that you know what your children needs, and will provide as You see fit. Thank You, Heavenly Father for giving us yet another day, for families that never cease to support, for strangers who bless us, for forumers who encourage and show us that there are a lot of things to be grateful about. Thank You, Father! Blessed Be Your Holy Name!

Praise God!!!

When we have thanksgiving dinner we go around the table each person says what they are thankful for then we pray.

Am thankful for my family that we are together and the way God works in our lives. I'm thankful we live in a country where we can worship God not all countries have this. Also thankful on how God has worked in my life and also am thankful for the things he has yet to do. Give God all the praise and glory.

:bow:O, God of Israel, of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
You, God of my fathers, through generations,
I praise Your name and I worship You
with gratitude in my heart
for Your faithfulness through generations,
You uphold us, You provide for us, and Your love nurtures us,
and I thank You for all Your blessings.
The last year has had a lot of hardship and trials,
but through it all You have been there,
You have sheltered us under Your wings,
You have taken us up on Your lap when we needed rest,
You have comforted us when our hearts have been broken,
You have guided us and held our hands
and been our light in darkness.
I praise You for who You are, o Lord,
and without Your love and tender mercy,
we would have walked astray and not found our way
in this world.
Thank You for Your word.
It is nourishment for our thirsty souls,
it is bread, it is water, and it is power and it is life to us!
O, God of my fathers ... You are worthy to be praised,
O, Lamb of God, You Lion of Judah, I thank You for the cross,
for Your blood shed for us ... for Salvation given to us by Your sacrifice.
I praise You, Jesus, Son of David, Son of God.
Your love for us ... is deeper than we may ever see.
Lord, I thank You for Your sweet presence,
for that Your desire is to abide with us and love us unconditionally,
despite how we are ... You are always there for us.
I bless Your name, Jesus Christ, Son of God.

How to say this for understanding??

I am thankful for His favor, mercy, grace, loveingkindness, and longsuffering, none of which I deserve or could ever earn.

the watchful eye of the Shepherd with His staff to direct and protect, the crook to grab and rescue when I as a dumb sheep have wander'd away, and giving His life to save mine.

the promise He gave by the Power of the resurection and the faithfulness of His servents to carry the Word of that to the ends of the world.

That He showed by Keeping His Promise that even a cracked and broken person guilty of but redeemed from the Law is Loved that much and has a calling, a duty to serve and Honor Him for Who He Is.

Praise the Lord

Nehemiah 9:5-6

... "Stand up and praise the LORD your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting."
"Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.:bow::bow:

Thank you Jere for starting this thread and thank you Lord for pointing it out to me to read.

Thank you Lord for showing me very patiently and lovingly that you are always there for me. Lord, I know that sometimes you must shake your head at me and wonder why I must learn everything the hard way, why I must always try to do things myself. You hear my prayer asking for help and guidance and then you see me do things my way. Time and time again. Over and over again. Why don't I learn not to worry and to trust you completely with all my needs. Lord, thank you for speaking very loudly and clearly to me all of last week. Taking on a second job was unhealthy both physically and spiritually. I had no time for you, no time for my family and friends, no time for my dog, no time for me. The extra income, which I still have not received, did not and could not compensate for my time for you, for me and others. It could not compensate for the toil on my body, the lack of sleep, the unhealthy quick on the run eating of meals inbetween jobs.

Lord that you for being so loving and forgiving. Thank you for your grace. Thank you for always being by my side. Thank you for sending people into my life that care for me and my spiritual growth. Thank you Lord for using them to lovingly speak your words of love and guidance. Thank you Lord for keeping my heart and ears open to your word.

[SIZE=+1] ~ Psalm 100 ~

Call out to the Almighty
Everyone on earth!
Serve God with gladness.
Come before Him with joyous song!

Know that the Almighty, He is God.
It is He who made us and we are His,
His nation and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving.
Enter His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

The Almighty is good.
His loving-kindness endures forever.
And His faithfulness continues
From generation to generation.
