GLORIFYING GOD
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. [1 CORINTHIANS 10:14]
The Christians overriding purpose in life is to glorify God. Everything we say and do, our relationships with others, the use we make of the gifts and opportunities God gives us, even when we face suffering and adverse situations; we must manage in such away as to give the Lord honor and praise, for His wisdom and goodness.
To glorify God is to please Him. Glorifying and pleasing Him are one and the same. The truth is that every Believer has a personal calling to please God. Jesus did not live to please Himself, nor should we. Note what Jesus says in John 8: 29: He who sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.
How can we please God? How can we glorify God? By exercising faith (Heb. 11:5-6), giving Him praise (Ps. 69:30-31), showing generosity (Heb. 13:16), being single- minded in Christian service (2 Tim. 2:4), loving others in the name of Jesus, walking in the fullness of the Spirit. These are just a few of the ways to honor and glorify God. May I say that the Lord is well pleased when we follow Christ in loving obedience. Walking in obedience demonstrates our love for Him, and is a witness to a lost world of His saving grace.
The Lord enables us to live according to His word and takes great pleasure in our obedience. In His sovereign grace He gives what He commands and delights in the results (Heb. 13:20-21). The Bible says in Colossians 3:17 whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Saints, we need to give ALL the glory to God and exalt the name of Jesus at every opportunity. Remember! The Lord said in Isaiah 42:8 I will not give my glory to anyone or my praise to idols. Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit says in 2 Corinthians 10:17 But he who glories, let him glory in the LORD. May God bless.
