• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Ummm not necessarily. Either He's wanting you to "let the cars pass before you head through the intersection" or He's tryin to get you to take a longer look at what you are asking for/ moving something else into posistion for you. When He says "wait" he means "wait" :) I know hard topic right? It sounds so easy, but to practice it is quite another thing right? :) You feel like :help:

Just be patient. If God wants you to have it, He will allow for things to work out before you are to head forwards, if not, He will bring some other option into your path, or remove that one. Just wait and have patience *praying*

If God makes you wait, then how can it be no? Then again, we'll never know till either we get it or we give up;) But after a while, you'll find that what you asked God earlier on is so stupid that you actually thank Him for not granting you your prayers.I've been through that so I know.

That's a really good question. I suppose wait COULD be no. Maybe, in some cases, He tells us to wait when the end answer is going to be no, because there's something better for us, and He's just waiting for us to see it!

I dont kno i anyone knows Tony Campolo...

Well I just spent the weekend with him on a face2face weekend and he told us this (as well as lots of other things :p)

I cant quote word for word but basiclly there used to be a girl he liked in school and he prayed that they would hook up. Anyway she got married and moves away. Later on in life they remet and she invited him for coffee... and lots and lots and lots and lots of talking... lol

anway he went away thanking god for not answering his prayer. He summed it up in such a good way

Sometimes what we think we need is not what we rearlly need. God knows what we need and when we need it and theres always a reasoning behind it :) just praise god when he does finally decide to bless you with it.

Sometimes wait could mean it will happen in his time not ours. His timing is perfect, and there are hidden reasons we might not even see untill later why we had to wait for something.

Just yesterday God let me see something I've been wanting to see for a few years, something that's actually kind of silly. It was a dragon fly as it comes up put of the water, and changes from a grub to a dragon fly. (told you it was silly) but as silly as it seems, there were other things he taught me as I watched it, hidden things, things that brought me great comfort when I needed it. He waited untill just the right moment to show me these things. His timing could not have been any better.

I would have had a story about it written and ready to post today except my power was out for most of the day, so I'll work on that tomorrow if I get the chance.

Just be patient and wait on him. And know that when things happen in his time, they can turn out to be more amazing than you even imagined.

For a long time I wanted to be a nurse, and I thought God did too so i persevered and every time I got knocked back i picked myslef up again and tried again, well a few weeks ago I realised that my calling is in Christian youth work and not in nursing at all, all that time i thought God was telling me to wait btu in fact He was saying no.

He is a hard chap to hear sometimes cause there is so much noise down hear and sometimes we just aren't listening properly, like when the radio isn't quite tuned in to the right station but you think it is. It is a really hard thing to do but if you pray about it then you'll manage.

well,
wait just means wait.
if gods will is no, then hell say no, when god says wait, he doesnt mean no.

yeah, like jay said
if you ever lack wisdom, ask god for it, god said hed give it and that hed give liberally over in james ch 1.
the way to know the will of god, and progress in the will of god, is communion with him. knowing the laws and principles of god by the word of god, and having conversation with god in person.
stay in prayer asking him anything you need to know, and listening to his leading voice, and youll understand.

yet, at the same time, you have to have a relationship where you can simply sense his presence, or his will.
god sent abraham to a mountain but did not tell him which one it was, it was in a mountain range.
and abraham had to be able to sense the will of god.
i beleive this can only come through a great intamicy and close walk with god, youll know in your spirit.

i reckon if he was just saying no, youd hear no and youd understand no. one thing i really beleive is gods ability to express himself clearly, and hes not the author of confusion, if something isnt clear or is confusing, then  its not becuase of god, but something else.

well, just pray about it, if anyone lacks wisdom or doesnt know the will of god, ask him, and hell give liberally.  james 1.

i know you cant question god, but you can ask god a question.

if your praying, and you feel god is telling you to wait, and he hasnt told you "no" then dont be discouraged when it seems like it isnt working, or something isnt coming.
are you simply discouraged about something?
if not im sorry, but if you are, dont lose heart. jesus said in luke that we must bring forth good fruit with patience.
and many times we have to wait for the "appointed time".

have you asked god if he wanted you to do that or not? or is he just not answering?
i beleive if a person is walking rightly with the lord, and we know if we are or not, then the passions and goals of our hearts are set there by god or god gives us permission to seek them.

well, i have no idea what it could be. but just becuase your not succeeding yet, doesnt mean god doesnt want you to have it, or that he doesnt want you to have it yet.
i know this
john 16.33
...in the world ye shall have tribulation....
jesus promised us that the same as he promised us salvation.
daniel prayed, and the moment he prayed the angel was sent.
but the angel was held up by resistance of the devil.
in light of this, keep in prayer and dont give up hope unless god tells you no.
one thing the bible teaches us is that whatever we ask god for he will give us, him being a father to us atleast makes him enterested in our desires and it is his utmost will to give us any and all things we desire as long as it isnt evil or would cause some form of evil in the long run, being out of his will.

well i think every thing in god has a time when it seems like hes not in it anymore.
i was once taught that in everything god does, like in ministries or accomplishing a vision.
1.it begins with a great rise, alot of stuff happening, it feels great, its going good, and you just are so full of joy about it.

2.but then it will platue, a very slow rising, where you really grow and you learn your integrity, where you really get foundation, where the strength of the vision comes from.

3.then it will rise even steeper and accomplish that final thing, the purpose of the whole plan, what youve been longing for so long.

maybe your just platueing at the moment?

or is this you?
isaiah 50.10
who is among you thaty feareth the lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light?
let him trust in the name of the lord, and stay upon his god.

i mean, you can love god, be in the will of god and still not hear his voice and it seem like hes no where near you. but you have to trust in his name, (what you know about him) and stay (rest) on him.

i dont know if that helps, but i hope so.
