Response to "Blasphemy Challenge" video

On December 7th 2006, a YouTube member posted a video called the Blasphemy Challenge. In this video, he denies the existence of God and the Holy Spirit. He then urges YouTube users to post a video reply doing the same thing-- denying God and the Holy Spirit. To date, there are 1023 video replies to the Blasphemy Challenge. Some of them are Christians, saying they disagree with the video, but the vast majority of them are people denying God and the Holy Spirit.

Three days ago, some good Christians put a video called The Blasphemy Response Challenge on YouTube. In this video, we Christians are challenged to confess with our mouth, that Jesus is Lord. Double-click on the video in my profile to watch and respond(with video) on YouTube.

I had no idea that this had occured. It is good to hear that Christians are finally giving a responce.

To me it just sounds like a deliberate attempt to bait christians. And yeah, not saying it's bad to respond or anything but still if we react, we just give them the satisfaction.

From my understanding - what they are doing isn't blasphemy, so it's really kind of pointless.

exactly.

Its kinda strange to me though... they are really saying "Dear God, I dont believe you exist." Why would you deny something so vehemently if you dont think it exists?

I sometimes debate in their forums. They say its not about the fact that they arent afraid of hell, its a "coming out of the closet" thing. The fact that they confront what has "put fear in them" for so long empowers them somehow. They are all blind.

I was recently at an apologetics conference where one of the speakers is working on this; Site.

Not sure why this is in singles (

), but I thought I'd chime in as it's ironic to be hearing about this not a day later. ^_^

Ergun is the man, however hes got a few enemies here at liberty. I hope he does well.

I'd assume he has more enemies than just at Liberty. He is a very cool guy, he was by far one of the better speakers at the conference.

you know what i realised when i read your post just then?

Athiests posting video's on the net 'disproving' God is about on par with us posting video's 'disproving' the tooth fairy. you're absolutely right, if they dont think God exists, why waste so much energy on the topic? Why be so evangalist? who cares what we think?

Perhaps they'd also like to tackle the disproving of the flat earth. It's kind of hard to discredit fiction.

I would tend to agree (unless one uses the more watered-down contemporary definition of blasphemy). Blaspheming the holy spirit is pretty severe. Unless I'm mistaken, you would have to make yourself an enemy of all that is good/just/honorable etc. It's not a matter of simple disbelief.
