Hello brothers and sisters God Bless You all.
I would like to know what scriptures from the New Testament is a good place to start for somebody that has never read the Bible?

It's actually for My wife who was born in Thailand and as we know it's a Buddhist country so it's all she knows:cry:. I won't give my hopes-up on her or stop praying for her so she may one day come to know the Lord as I have. But I'm not sure if I should give her scriptures to read that will scare her if she doesn't repent and accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior or something else like the rewards and benefits of being called children of God or something that comes with knowing God... I just don't know how to go about it.
I'm still learning too. She kinda wants to know (she's a bit curious, I think) All we got to go by right know is a Gideons Bible with Thai and English translations that she brought back from Thailand, christiananswers.net/hope and the time that I spent with her trying to tell her wonderful things about God. Her name is Thippy I would appreciate your guys's prayers:prayer: and help. If anyone else in a situation like this please post.
Peace and Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart.

Well, for her I would say she needs to start from Genesis to Revelation. You should share the 10 commandments with her, and than let her start with Genesis. You can't share the Gospel with her unless she understand the law, and that she is a sinner, because if you do, it will sound like foolishness. She must first understand WHY she needs to be saved before she will accept a savior. I will pray for you, and here is a good site to check out on witnessing.

I will pray for her.
With my youth at church, I start them off with the book of John in the NT, and also 1st John.

Try to get plugged in to a church if your not yet, talk to a pastor and find a woman mentor for her. And of course a male mentor would be good for you also.
God bless you in your growth. And I pray you enjoy His word.

I agree with you but I will share the verse that always carried with me.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him."-
Revelations 3:20

I know it's pretty common now but when I read it it made God seem more accessable to me. That he was there embodied in my mind and not just a figure in a book. It took awhile but here I am! Anyway I'm praying for you and your wife. Hugs and blessings

Me personally, I would start with the easiest Gospel, and as she progresses, move on to other stuff. Start with the book of John. She is a babe in the word, and some of the things written in the OT are very deep, and we are told not to feed "babes" with "meat," rather with the "milk" until they are ready for the "meat." (1 Cor. 3:2; Heb. 5:12)

The gospel of John is a great place to introduce someone to the Gospel message.

God Bless

Till all are one.

Hello ReborninChrist. I read the Bible for the first time almost 4 year ago. I started with the Gospel of Mark, and then read the book of Romans. This was helpful to me because Mark was a concise but complete account of the Gospel, and Romans was an explanation of all of the most important doctrines on the Gospel. Perhaps this might be helpful to your wife.

BTW after digesting a few New Testament books (or perhaps the whole thing), I've found that Genesis is a good way to start reading the Old Testament.

I too would recommend John or Mark. Read both! I also hope you are reading with her. The Psalms has always been a joy to me so I would suggest you read them as well. You probably already know this but don't try to push her or put pressure on her just pray for her and be willing to talk to her about the things of God. And don't forget to listen to her. This is where we most often fail, we don't listen well.
May God grant you both grace in Christ.

Thanks all for your kind words and prayers. Just yesterday she asked me where her Bible was. It's so true that she is like a baby who needs to be shown what true love is and only Jesus can fill that emptiness within her heart. To think I was about to post this question on yahoo answers. I'm glad I didn't do that. Thanks again I will also include you in my prayers.
