Where would you go?

Suppose God called you to go to a foreign mission field, but he didn't specify where. Where would you go?

Personally, I would go to Africa, Brazil, or the poorer parts of China. The gospel is readily being accpeted in these parts of the world and should God not tell me where to go, I would go to one of these.

What about ya'll?

Well, I DO know where He wants me, but if I didn't, I suspect I'd be looking into the harder fields (not Muslim for me, though, I'm too out-spoken...I'd probably be shot before I got off the airplane... ;)), like the ones that are considered "former" Christian nations...Europeans in particular...but, then again, I'm built for a challenge and wouldn't be as "full-filled" in an open country... :) (PLEASE don't take offense at these comments, anyone! AMERICA is DEFINITELY one of the closed countries to the Gospel, and I know it!)

They were never christian in the first place. Or their perception of faith and God was so distorted it could only go badly wrong.
Religion in France, when practised in the middle ages, was always a constraint and source of terror - heavy taxes to be paid to the church, the church having it's own tribunals and right of life and death over people. (extensive witch hunts...) The priests stole am lot of land and money . And the crusades were't exactly honoring to God...
Anyway I don't think it has really ever been a "christian country" ... it use to be religious, yes, but in a way that could only lead to God's rejection.

Well I have a huge pull on my heart for Rwanda - so I'll say there... :) I've been to Kenya and Uganda before.

Actually, I'm leaving for Rwanda in January 2008 for 3 works, working with the Salvation Army, specifically in the areas of AIDS/HIV and drug/alcohol awareness... :)

Very exciting, Sasch!

And yeah, that's why I said "thought to be 'former'" There IS no such thing as a Christian nation!!! Since Christianity is NOT something you gain simply by being born... ;) Anyhow...I have been on short trips to Europe and was overwhelmed with the reactions...one church was UPSET with their youth for evangelizing!!! (Some of this goes back to the communistic days of that nation, of course) But most I've run into are completely indifferent, or at least claim to be...or are very anti...it's pretty dark over there (just like it is here!!!)

For a long time, I feel God has been calling me to work with third world children. He has impressed upon my heart that alot of problems (poverty, lack of education, disease, etc.) are a cyclical problem, and if we can break that cycle, we will have a new generation that has more opportunity to raise a traditional family, gain self sufficiency, learn to respect the human life, and gladly reduce themselves to being the role of servitude (in the way that Christ did during the last supper, and on the cross, not meant as a racial/cultural thing).

The easiest way to lay the foundation for change is, of course, through the Gospel and the freedom Christ brings. I strongly believe that the best evangelism is done by example. Children are more apt to believe someone who "walks the walk" and not just "talks the talk", to use a worn out cliche. That's why I would be inclined to work in children's homes and in community centers, interacting with the kids, and letting them know that some people actually do care for them.

If I had the chance, my first love is Central America, and to a degree, South America. Sub-Saharan Africa would also be an exciting place to go.

I have been doing research on short term mission trips for about 3 years now. I am in contact with a couple agencies about going to Kenya (first choice) or Tanzania (second choice). I am also interested in doing work in Israel some day as well. I should be able to afford it this year...hopefully I can!

:help:This is a question I have been stuggleing with for a couple of years...The burden i seem to keep having is not for a specific country, but the whole world... I wish GOd was more specific sometimes! I still need to figure out where to go or stay first. I do feel though it is a nesecity not to get caught up in the American lifestyle right out of college because most never escape it. Not Europe yet either i could definetly get caught up in that too. :idea:Third world seems the most right place to start off for me...that just leaves like 100 countries to choose from.
