I'm tired of this bleep. You think that communists have been the only ones responsible for millions of deaths? Communists and capitalists BOTH are equally responsible for many MANY deaths. It has nothing to do with which system is better. It has to do with who has the power.

I think, perhaps, there ought to be an agreement. If some of us can refrain from branding all conservatives as Nazis, then I think we deserve to have the respectful attempt at understanding reciprocated by not having socialism equated with Communism, much less Marxism, much less Maoism or Stalinism. Because the comparison between socialists and Mao or Stalin is just as off the mark and needlessly offensive as comparisons between the centre-right and Hitler, Franco or Pinochet.

The comparison between the right and hitler is totally false, since he was in fact a socialist and was for things like gun control. Not conservative at all.
and I will reference socialist leaders in situations like this because its relevant. Mao is the bloodiest dictator the world has ever known, murdering more people than hitler and stalin combined.

No, it isn't. Mao was certainly evil, but that doesn't make him relevant to moderate socialism or to Chavez. An attempt to understand what you're talking about rather than brandishing the entire left wing as radical Marxists who favour bloody dictatorships would be appreciated.

With Hugo Chavez wanting to shut down or sieze by force anything that threatens his power, investors have good reason to get out of Venezuela. Of course, this seems to be part of the cycle where communism always fails. People who bring in a lot of money don't like the deal they are now getting, they want to leave, this hurts the economy, so the government prevents them from taking their wealth elsewhere, and so on.

Need to correct my statement. Just read a story about it and investors are not necessarily pulling out their investments out yet. Venezuela's oil reserves still makes them confident that they can make a buck. They're jittery, but have not pulled their money out.

Good on Chavez. He wants to rightly keep the wealth produced by Venezuela IN Venezuela. I am, however, waiting for the US to do what it always seems to want to do in these situations and invade or blockade.

(Psst! Capitalism doesn't work. Billions of human beings are living in poverty, malnourished and without access to clean water, healthcare or education. Every 3 seconds a child dies due to poverty.
If that's a working economic system I sure wouldn't want to see a failing one!)

Capitalism is not a failure, because the goal of capitalism is not to create equality, but to an efficient and productive economic climate, that quickly adapts to any changes and reduces waste.
Capitalism must be combined with private charity to reach those that have fallen through the cracks.
Socialism's goal is material equality for all people. This creates waste, is slow to adapt and increases unemployment by getting tangled in the affairs of an efficient system.
