• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I had to check to see that wasn't my post! When I left church after 4 years in it, no one called to see if I was still alive, not even the couple who drove us there each week.
Most christians don't care; maybe for Ethiopians or missions, but no one in their midst.
I also believe there are some folk God created just to suffer all their lives and I am one.
"Most christians don't care"

You know, that sad thing is that I too have been one of those Christians. I guess we feel "someone else" will do the caring. God forgive me...

"not even the couple who drove us there each week."

My heavens what is the Church coming to???

We need to pray for healing but also be willing to accept it if we aren't healed. We are not a bad person or hated by God if He doesn't heal us. That is just how it is. People are people and many don't know what to say or do when someone is suffering, disabled or has to do less because of an illness. So they just withdraw from the person and do nothing. It isn't the right thing to do but it happens. I learned after several years of being upset and having hurt feelings to just say to heck with them! Instead I focus on the Lord and surround myself with people who do care and do understand. I go to church when I can and if nobody says anything if I am missing, so be it. I am there to learn about Christ and worship Him. I am not there for their approval or my own benefit! Suffering has taught me patience and I have learned to enjoy the good days and tolerate the bad. It IS a great day even if my body or mind is hurting. As long as Christ is in my life and I have the promise of Heaven to look forward to that is enough for me. I won't let others steal my joy because they didn't offer comfort or sympathy.

Very good post...

Let me say that I don't want to sound that all is bad. I have a wife whom I love dearly. We have been married almost 28 years, engaged when she was only 16 and married to me when she was 18 right out of high school. We have an excellent and happy marriage. We both have good successfull jobs. We have a nice home and beautiful pets I love dearly. We have 3 toy poodles and 4 parrots. Our house is a laugh with the parrots barking like poodles. Frankly, I still consider my life very, very good...

I am happy for you. This proves my theory there are just some God wants to suffer.
I am a widow with a child, no income, soon to be homeless, no female will have anything to do with me, no male either.
WHAT???

You mean your church will not help you find a place to live? Take up an offering for you? Anything at all???
That is what we are supposed to do as Christians...

This is nutz, a Christian should NEVER be homeless...

 :sigh:

I've been told that suffering perfects us, refines us.
It doesn't me. Just makes me give up. Guess I'm not a good christian.
If God doesn't act like He cares, who should?

Even if I don`t know you I have a feeling that you are a good christian. One of my favourites Bible verses is this one 1 John 3:20
It natural that you sometimes feels like you want to give up when you suffering. That is so for me too. Then God can give us small goldgrain (what I think) for example you read something in the Bible that you enjoy or you can see something in the nature that you enjoy for example sunset.(Something that you like) Then I forget for awhile that I suffering.

I shall pray for you
