Do we sin by not taking care of our bodies as good as we could?

Hi sOuljah,

Here it is:

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own (1 Cor 6:19)

With the issue of being overweight, 1 Cor 6:20 says, "Therefore honor God with your body" =)

Overeating is definitely not honorable in God's sight.  Proverbs 23:20-21 seems to imply that.  And Proverbs 23:2 says something funny about those who are tempted to overeat LOL! Actually that's somewhat out of context, but still it sounds kinda funny LOL!! :D

God bless!

Overeating is only part of overweight. Eating the WRONG things plays a major part in it. The hurry-up society promotes fast food and JUNK food.

It would probably do everyone a lot of good to adopt the type of diet that Jesus ate.

I do believe, though, that the care of the body is an obligation that we owe, not only to God, but to our families. I take my blood pressure medication for my family as well as myself. I work with a gentleman who brags that he hasn't been to a doctor in over twenty years. How selfish! I've even said as much to him. High blood pressure is a silent killer, and when I mentioned that, he said, "Oh, I have relaxation techniques that I use, so I know my blood pressure is okay."

WRONG.

Do yourself, and your family a favor. Get regular checkups. Follow what the doctor says. Know the warning signs for cancer, and be familiar with your family history.

Peace be with you,

I once read somewhere that if 'freaking out' or 'stressing out' can radically affect your blood pressure...I think that's what it was...supposedly it's as bad as eating unhealthy.  Don't know if it's true, but I couldn't be surprised

God bless!

To Hoonbaba:

Excessive stress is bad for EVERYTHING. The body is flooded with adrenaline, because that was necessary for survival in earlier times. You had to be ready for "fight or flight." Since we rarely outrun enemies or pick fist fights, the adrenaline overload has no outlet. High blood pressure, gastric distress, muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, you name it!

There's a famou saying, "Let go, and let God." EXCELLENT remedy for today's stressful times. Instead of dwelling on the miseries of day to day life, oftentimes on things we cannot change, you just take everything to the Cross, and set it down.

What a feeling of relief!

Alive - P.O.D.

Everyday is a new day
I’m thankful for every breath I take
I won’t take it for granted
So I learn from my mistakes
It’s beyond my control, sometimes it’s best to let go
Whatever happens in this lifetime
So I trust in love
You have given me peace of mind

chorus:
I feel so alive for the very first time
I can’t deny you
I feel so alive
I feel so alive for the very first time
And I think I can fly

Sunshine upon my face
A new song for me to sing
Tell the world how I feel inside
Even though it might cost me everything
Now that I know this, so beyond, I can’t hold this
I can never turn my back away
Now that I’ve seen you
I can never look away

chorus

bridge:
Now that I know you (I could never turn my back away)
Now that I see you (I could never look away)
Now that I know you (I could never turn my back away)
Now that I see you (I believe no matter what they say)

chorus x 2

Note:

In the song, Sonny is talking about a guy
coming to a new realization that there is a God,
and something to live for. Therefore, he looks at everything in a new light and lives life to the
fullest.
