Holy cow, has anyone seen this doll? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3933954

There's a Winnie the Pooh available also. Oh my word! Breanna and I were in Walmart today and found it. I typed in her name and there goes Elmo saying "Hi, Breanna!" She went nuts!

Apparently you hook it up to your comp through a usb that you plug into his butt, and he can save your kid's name, birthday, favorite food, color, etc. It's crazy! We stood there playing with it for the longest time!

Does anyone have one of these, or know someone that does? Is it worth the money? Her birthday is coming up, and I'm sure I could drop a couple of hints to some grandparents...lol.

I haven't seen this yet. My kids are past the elmo stage but it's interesting...

My daughter has a similar doll, but it's Dora (the Explorer).

It's a bit disappointing though.

Dora comes with an enormous database of names and says a lot of great stuff...

But the functions are kinda limited. You can only load three optional items into the doll (3 stories, or 2 stories and 1 song, or 1 story and 2 songs, etc).

It also comes with a built in Alarm Clock that reminds the child of certain events.

12:00pm - "Rachel! It's time for lunch!"
1:00pm - "Rachel! It's time for a nap!"
6:00pm - "Rachel! It's time for dinner!"

Problem is that the clock always goes haywire and gives the notification at the wrong times.

Overall, it's cute. Always surprises people who see the doll, but don't know what it does.

You can also load three names of other people, and the doll will mention them at random.

"Rachel! Do you want to have a picnic with... Jess-i-ca?"

Yeah, I saw last night that there was a Dora... Glad to hear from someone who has it!!

I'm holding her grandparents back from buying it...I still haven't decided if I need one MORE thing that makes noise in this house! lol...

Where did you get it from? The ones at Walmart had been returned (the boxes were taped back together...sheesh), and we don't have a Toys R Us around here anymore. I was thinking that IF I let her have it, it would be best just to order it from FP's website. At least that way I know someone hasn't messed with it beforehand!

Can you re-work the alarm clock thingy, or are you just stuck with having lunchtime at midnight? =)

My cousin got it for my daughter for Christmas and he said he got it from Walmart.

You can set the times for all of the alarms, but the types of alarms are pre-selected (Breakfast, Lunch, Nap, Dinner, Bedtime, etc.)

And 12:00pm is LUNCH! Not midnight! (midnight is 12:00am).

:p

Hehe. A talking ELMO doll that knows my name, or anyone else's for that matter, is not permitted in my home. :D :D :D

David would love it though.... he's currently Elmo obsessed, its a bit shocking. All day he follows me around saying "Elmo!" and holding his one Elmo video to try to talk me into watching it :help:

If this keeps up a couple more months I figure for his 2nd birthday we'll need an Elmo theme.

Lol....yes, I KNOW the difference between noon and midnight, you goof! =) I was asking about the clock going "haywire" like you said. If it gets offtrack for a couple of days, it wouldn't drive me COMPLETELY insane as long as I can reset it! If I can't do anything about it, I can already guarantee that Elmo would be in the trash!! =)

Thanks to the grandparents, we have Tickle-Me-Elmo, Chicken-Dance Elmo, and Hokey-Pokey Elmo. We also have a drum set (not Elmo-related but noisy nonetheless). I haven't seen the Elmo-Knows-Your-Name toy yet, but I'm kind of tired of loud Elmos that need new batteries all the time. Our kids are starting to move on to other kinds of noisy toys now, though. Now they are really into Leap Pads.
