Last Friday I had an awesome vision while I was praying. I saw and felt oil being poured over my head. I think I was being annointed for something but not sure exactly what. Has anyone else had a simliar vision?

I didn't have a vision, but the Lord has been showing me the 'oil of joy' for the past three weeks now. I guess that means that I have been anointed with the oil of joy!! YAY!

The oil of joy would also speak about upcoming...personal Divine encounters...being comforted, encouraged, and given hope...as well as empowered to do the same for others!
Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I had a vision a couple of months ago where I saw the rain pouring down from heaven change into pure drops of golden oil. The oil was pouring down on a very dark town where I live.

I had a dream last night that a vial of oil I was carrying in my bag had opened and spilled out. I was very concerned at first as there were only a few drops left in the bottle, but when I got a drop on my finger and smelled the aroma, all my concerns drifted away.

One possible interpretation...you may be concerned about a particular circumstance...yet in Christ you will be given favor and victory, as summed up in this verse...
2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
Another possible interp...even a drop of anointing is powerful and will impart peace! Faith, as small as a mustard seed, in our mighty Most High God, will surely make gloomy emotional clouds depart.

The bottle that spilled in my dream is a real bottle that I have in my house. I don't carry it around incase I spill it! (It has a beautiful fragrance)
Do you think a possible interpretation could be that the oil belongs to God and He will pour it out whenever He chooses however much I try to preserve it or keep it to myself.
I wondered because I'm not particularly gloomy or anything just now, in fact God is really moving and I feel that I've shifted up a gear.

I like the tone of this thread. Very nice!!
Regarding the sensation of oil being poured over you, I would remind us that in Biblical days, it was customary for the host of a home to practically bathe the visitor in perfumed oil (which is what the woman did when she poured expensive perfumed oil on Jesus' feet and wiped His feet with her hair).
This seems to be the reason for the part in Psalm 23 where David writes about "anointing my head with oil..." In that Psalm, it has a double application being 1) of welcome and care; and 2) of the sheep who would be anointed with a substance that would prevent dangerous flies from entering the nasal passage of the sheep and eventually making their way to the sheep's brain and causing permanent damage.
So what you may be experiencing isn't necessarily an anointing to do something, but an anointing of welcome in His presence... He is affirming your presence in His by bathing you with the oil of His gentle Spirit...
Take care and may His face shine upon all who read this!

You are so right! Thank you for pointing that out...sometimes things just go right over my head! Thank you! I have a bad habit of hearing but not listening sometimes and often not connecting things. God has His hands full with me!
