Ok what do you guys think? If you are against it I would like to know why, cause I've heard the other side and I want to hear yours. If you are for it than how do you do it? I.e Speak in Tongues, prophecy, discernment. Please help. I learned that I don't really know that much about this topic and I would like to learn
We always have to know that the gifts is a present, its for free, but the purpose is not to get our self exalted, but its there to help edify the Body of Christ. Never make the mistake to weigh up a person according to the gifts that he/she may have but only on the fruit of the spirit.
If you can see the gifts as a tool to get the job done you wont fall into all kinds of miss understandings about the gifts.
The referring of the Christians to the term of the body of Christ, is a parallel to show us how we have to work together. Just as a part of a body cannot function without being connected to the body, is the same why one Christian cannot function or grow without being connected to a church.
1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body:
Not every one in the body is the same. We all have a different ministry and different GIFTS to go with YOUR ministry. The gifts God gave us are for the purpose to EDIFY THE BODY OF CHRIST.
Its just the same as with the human body. The eye has a gift to can see, so does the hand have the gift or ability to touch. The feet can bring you to places by walking. If you can look at the gifts as abilities you will understand how the gifts work. We dont just have legs and no arms or only eyes and no mouth. God created our body to work in harmony, like the eyes cant refuse to see where the foot has to go. Because of the difference we cannot exalt our self and think that we are better than our brother of sister. In Gods eyes we are equal because we all have the same commandment to edify. Every body have to be renewed his/her mind to discover the will of God for our selves. What is good for your body, acceptable for your soul, and perfect for your spirit?
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
