I had a lovely dinner with some friends a couple of weeks ago. One of them told the story of taking a young woman who was new to the country out to Canadian Tire to get some stuff.... I just realized that this is one of those "you had to be there" stories but I will mindlessly proceed regardless.... the Canadian Tire Money confused her and she asked about it. He explained to her that when you spend real money in the store, they give you some fake money back... which you can then use at their store like it was real money.
She comes from a very small village... no Wal-Marts or Billboards... she thought about it for a minute... looked at him and, completely perplexed (as she was not jaded my endless marketing strategies) asked, "Why would they do that?"
... and when you think about it....

Yeah, my mom asked me on the phone if I got any Canadian Tire money, I told her I went to the bank... I was like "What is she talking about?" LOL
