Hi everyone.... I thought it would be fun to talk about our children.

Do any of you have children? Grandchildren? Are your children small or are they grown? What are their names? Ages?

Most of all do you have any funny stories to share? Or anything you would like to share about them?

I would love to hear from you,

God Bless,
Roberta

I have three children. Andrew 13, Adam 10 and Katie is 5. :)

Mine are **deep breath** girl - 16, boy - 14, girl - 3, 1 on the way!

The 16 and 14 year olds are stepkids.

In the mall the other day, I bought my little 3-year old a cherry icee and myself a lemonade icee. We were having a good ol' time when Sara offered me some of her Cherry Icee. I glady accepted and took the lid off and began to pour some of her icee into my cup (she had a very large icee). Apparently I misunderstood her - she only meant I could take a "sip" so she began trying to take the cup back as I tried to get the lid on before it spilled. She thought I was trying to take some more so began to fight harder for her cup! Well, I had had enough and decided after telling her several times to stop that a little more action was necessary. In my great wisdom, I reached down and smacked her on the hand which was, at the time, attached to the cup that we were struggling to control. Naturally, the icee squished straight up into the air like a volcano and came down all over me and the chair we were sitting in. I was just slightly embarassed...and I only saw two or three people trying to hide smiles! :D

Blackwing, marmaladePRO,

I hope the Lord blesses you with many one day. :)

Josiah I love your mall story and soon you'll have four!

Whenever we go anywhere my daughter has to bring her teddybear with her. The other day at the grocery store as we were getting ready to check out she had to go to the bathroom. (Did you ever notice how they do not have to go to the bathroom until you go somewhere)? Her father took her so I could check out and my daughter handed me her teddybear. I was waiting in line for quite a while before I got to the cashier. When it was finally my turn she looked at me strangely and said "Do you always carry a teddybear with you?" I forgot that I had it. I must have looked pretty strange just me and the teddybear no kids in sight.

God Bless,
Roberta

Sure that counts. May I recommend Barbie as a gift? She is a pretty hot item with girls. :) Lots of Barbie stuff to buy.

Actually she's a big reader, so I ended up getting her 2 books and some kind of brown interactive dog. She was happy with them, she had to have that dog in every picture taken that day.

Josiah and blynn, those were cute stories, and funny, too!

I have a 17 year old adopted son from Korea. When he was about four, he accidentally hurt his hand while playing and began to cry big crocodile tears. I came over and held his tiny hand and said (in a tender, motherly way, of course), "Oh, my poor baby," and kissed the top of his hand (to make it all better, you understand).

All of a sudden, he stopped his crying and looking at me and adamantly said, "I'm not a baby!" I retorted, "Oh, no, you're a big boy." He then proceeded to go right back to his crying again, as if you turned a faucet "on" and "off." I had all I could do to keep from laughing.

These are some of the precious moments a parent will never forget.

*Cassidy quit trying to give the kitty a hair cut!!!*

Ok I can now tell you I have a 16 year old daughter named Jennifer and a 3 year old daughter named Cassidy.

Neat thread I love all the posts.

I have a cute story about Cassidy. It happened last night as I was doing the dishes she was ripping through the house. She came up to me and said she had to stand in the corner to rest for a while and then went and put her nose in the corner and rested. I thought that was so cute.

I have tons more!

And a cute one about Jennifer, When she was about 6 we bought her bunkbeds. She was sleeping on the top bunk and she fell. Have you ever watched the show Rescue 911? Well I never missed an episode. Anyway as I ran in to see if she was ok, she said "Mommy call rescue 911" We still talk about that and laugh.

I love your stories. :)
They are really cute and funny.

I was at Super WalMart(my second home) last Mother's Day grocery shopping. There was an employee handing out Mother's Day carnations to shoppers as we were leaving. When it was my turn she handed me one and said "Here mom Happy Mother's Day". My son looked at me in utter surprise and said "Mom how did that lady know your name?" :) (Yes my name is Mom).

Please keep sharing I love your stories.

God Bless,
Roberta

Kristen,

Your daughter Cassidy sounds like an absolute doll. That was really a funny story :) Thank you for sharing it. Isn't it something when your child realizes for the first time that you actually do have a name?

God Bless,
Roberta

Josiah I think that's great that your daughter sings and you encourage her to do it loudly. :) My daughter is always singing too.

Yes I live at wal-mart and if you can't find me there then I am usually at the doctor or the dentist. :) :)

God Bless,

Well, I have four big ones...... ages - 26, 24, 21 and 18

For those of you who like a story, pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee and read on....
For the rest of you - feel free to pass on to the next thread and be blessed...

For those of you who have stayed....

You may have noticed that there is a bigger age gap between our third and fourth child than between the others. This is because our fourth child was a pleasant surprise!

Our three eldest children were born before my wife and I became Christians. Three years after becoming Christians, our fourth child was born. With the first three children we only chose a name for them usually several days after they were born, but for this child, we were determined to make sure that we had a name before the birth. Now that we were Christians, we also thought we should ask God what He wanted her to be called. I went away to pray and seek the Lord for a name. I returned to tell my wife that I thought the Lord wanted us to call the baby "Ralph". Her response was "Ralph!! I think you've got that wrong - you'd better go and pray again!". I dutifully went to seek the Lord again, and returned to my wife saying "I apparently I mis-heard. The Lord wants the baby to be called Ruth not Ralph!". This event took place about two months after the pregnancy was declared. I should perhaps add at this point that I had never seen the birth of any of our children, neither had we determined to know the sex of any of the children before they were born.

The story continues....

About a month before the due date for the birth, we started to panic a bit because we did not have a boy's name. We started to spend time looking for a suitable boy's name until it suddenly dawned on me - if God had given me the name for a girl, why did we need a boy's name? Surely, the child would be female. At that point we no longer pursued looking for a boy's name.

The story winds forward to what was eventually to become the date of the birth.....

That day I had agreed to visit my wife in hospital at 2.30pm. I also had three young children that needed to be looked after whilst I was away so I arranged for a good neighbour to look after them whilst I was on my visit.

My wife was in an ante-natal ward by herself (this is an interesting point, but I'll let you decide why later on). My wife was pretty well "out of it" - I'm sure you mums out there will appreciate why. Not much converation passed between us, because she quite understandably had her mind on other things. I was beginning to wonder when it would be acceptable for me to leave, recognising that I had a baby-sitter at home looking after three young children whilst on the other hand not wanting my wife to think that I was abandoning her. I had decided that 4.30pm would seem to be a good time to make my exit - by now it was about 4.10pm.

At about 4.20pm, I was beginning to think how I might make an acceptable exit, when my wife told me (as best she could) to go and get the nurse because she thought the baby was coming. When I found the nursing sister, she claimed that it was impossible as they had loked at her about 30 minutes previous (which they had) and assessed that the baby was nowhere near due and probably not for at least a couple of hours. Anyway, she decided to come and take a look - more to humour my request than anything else, I think. When she examined my wife, she gave a surprised response - I remember her words to be : "My word, this baby is on the way". With that, our dughter was born, right in front of my eyes - the first one I had seen, and my wife was still in the ante-natal ward, she had not been taken to the labour room. Whilst seeing the birth was great, there was one more thing that to me was more important - at the time that Ruth appeared, I heard the Lord whisper to me "I wanted you to witness My creation".

Ruth is indeed a gift from the Father.....

Next post, I'll tell you a Ruth incident...
