  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Kirk Cameron Takes Heat for His Annihilationist View on Hell

What verses are you referring to, why do you ask? Colossians 1:24 'Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am supplementing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions in behalf of His body, which is the church... 5 For even though I am absent in body, I am nevertheless...

Matthew 25:46 is Jesus quoting Daniel 12:2 Daniel 12:2 '... At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your...

Kirk Cameron Takes Heat for His Annihilationist View on Hell

Aside from the 1 John and James verses, all of the verses are saying the same thing. Although verses like Psalm 37 seem to simply be speaking of the earthly observation of the wicked dead '... you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there' and 'Then he passed away, and behold...

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

"... some Jews understood the passage in Isaiah to be about torment in hell" The passage in Isaiah is describing the future, it is the last chapter and culmination of the previous 65 chapters. Note the 66:24 worm passage proceeds with 'For behold, the LORD will come in fire, And His chariots...

'Those Job and Isaiah passages are describing what happens to bodies in this world, humiliation, decay, and mortality... None of them are about final judgment .." (1Tonne post #201) Wrong. Job and Isaiah use the word Sheol - Sheol is more than simply the grave: Job 7:9 'In the same way...

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

Jipsah said: 'Yeah, God can't really destroy body and soul in hell. Totally impossible. "Ye shall not surely die", right? (Jipsah post #215) Much of Jipsahs post is sarcasm, so I dont know why you didnt see this was sarcasm. You are the one who said "there is no cessation of existence" So...

Isaiah 41:14 'Do not fear, you worm Jacob, you people of Israel; I will help you” declares the LORD “and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel' Psalm 22:6 'But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people. But I am a worm and not a man' Job 25:6 'less a mortal, who...

I suppose Tonne is trying to get us to answer his own problem, which Tonne sees as 'Jesus says “their worm does not die” (post 189). Tonne says 'the worm is a figurative image of the person under judgment' And since Tonne does not believe the 'worms that do not die' are literal worms (and...

"... how does their worm continue if everything belonging to the person is destroyed? You are the one insisting on eternal spirit worms - not us. You are the one insisting worms are something other than a very basic metaphor for death - not us. "Please tell me how this fire in Isaiah continues...

Kirk Cameron Takes Heat for His Annihilationist View on Hell

'... Jesus says “their worm does not die”. The possessive language clearly ties the worm to the person' (1 Tonne) There are no personal worms, but either way, the person - the corpse - is dead! So, unless one abandons the plain meaning of Jesus’ words, the “worm that does not die” cannot be...

Note Jesus is quoting Isaiah 66:24 ... Isaiah 66:24 "Then they will go out and look at the corpses of the people who have rebelled against Me. For their worm will not die. And their fire will not be extinguished; And they will be an abhorrence to all mankind” Those who looked upon the corpses...

Is Hell Annihilationism or Eternal Torment

The 'FIRE' is both real and metaphoric. It is speaking of this world and the future judgement. The fire speaks of Gods 'WRATH' and His wrath is unquenchable - not the things in it (!) God says His 'wrath' is an 'unquenchable fire' - nothing in there that says people are forever alive in the...

    Cross or Crucifix

I am moved by paintings and such of the crucifixion, at rare times even moved to tears, like during an Easter play. But seeing the crucifix too often is not good I feel. It does become ordinary after awhile and then even odd. Primarily bcse His death was only one moment of His life - the rest of...

Kirk Cameron Takes Heat for His Annihilationist View on Hell

Correct. There are no eternal worms, and there are no eternal humans. Immortality is conditional, that is the point of Conditional Immortality. God's judgements are eternal. Ghenna hell and the worms, are not eternal - the finality of God's judgements are eternal - and thus death and hades are...
