  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Catholic: Intercession

Ok, cool. Thanks. I see. Are you certain that praying for the intercession of Mary (or other Saints) isn't necessary or required in EO or Roman Catholicism?

    Catholic: Intercession

    Could you please elaborate?

    Catholic: Intercession

Hey Tigg, thanks for your response. I said nothing about whether the verses are supposed to say we should pray for one another or not. And I do believe that these Saints are in heaven with Christ. I'm simply trying to better understand why "Intercession of the Saints" is important to Roman...

    Catholic: Intercession

Thanks for your response, ChristianT. It is appreciated. I see. Is Hebrews 12:1 the only verse that supports the concept of this cloud of witnesses you speak of? The reason I ask is because it does mention that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, referring to the Saints, but it it...

    Catholic: Intercession

Hello, I've been studying Catholicism lately and was just wondering if some Catholics here could explain the official Catholic teaching on the topic of "Intercession of the Saints". As I understand it, Catholics "pray" to dead Saints to intercede on their behalf because they believe these...

    Mormon Theology - Agency.

While I think it is important for the believers in a religion to explain their faith to those outside of it, I also think it is important for the believers in that religion to listen to what the non-believers have to say about the faith being discussed. While it is true that you will have those...

    Tips to feel at ease?

I'm just coming off a first kiss with a date I had tonight (can't sleep now, too excited), and my advice to you would be to just chill out; quit worrying about what you're doing and focus on the woman you're interested in. Perhaps most importantly, suppress the urge to analyze everything you say...

Why I think gay marriage has no future.

Come now, you're being ridiculous! What percentage of Americas population is gay? My search results came up with around 5%. So if 95% of people are heterosexuals, and 5% are homosexual or bisexual, would that not make the 5% abnormal or "queer"? Of course it does. Let's just say that there's a...

Why I think gay marriage has no future.

It all depends on how you view things, and you are being intolerant (and thus, hypocritical) of views that are not in line with your own. From my point of view, if homosexuals (which the Bible clearly identifies as a sin) adopt children, and instill in those children homosexual tendencies, they...

Why I think gay marriage has no future.

Thanks for stating the obvious, but I was speaking of gay people's specific sexual abnormality - their gayness. LOL The last time I checked, two dudes couldn't have a kid together biologically, and that is the point I am arguing from. In my opinion, there is a LARGE difference between people who...

Why I think gay marriage has no future.

The difference is that the straight, infertile couple still chose a relationship that would, if there were no actual biological problem, produce children. In one case, you are dealing with an actual biological abnormality, in the other, you are dealing with people who have chosen to live an...

Why I think gay marriage has no future.

Really, I could care less about whether the government gives them a piece of paper condoning their relationship or not - people are going to do what they're going to do, and it's not like a piece of paper will make their sin "ok" in God's eyes. However, assuming that same-sex marriage is...

    Yahweh's name removed by satan?

I think it is a good thing that the name of God (YHWH) isn't well known or used very often; in our modern culture, such a name would be blasphemed to the max. I also see no problem with referring to YHWH as 'The LORD' (all capitals); this indicates that he isn't just some ruler, but The...
