    i would say that nothing is really so bad as long as you don't feel compelled to use it, or that you won't feel normal wihtout it. but also, it takes you away from living your life. it distracts you from what's in front of you.

    smoking once because of peer pressure is nothing to be ashamed of. if anything, it's a valuable life experience (not that i encourage it) but now you know what you're talking about when you talk to your friends or family or even children and say that it's not worth it.
