  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The people is one

Stone and every major translation is right--Let us is part of the Hebrew text. How you arrive that it wasn't part of the text is a big  Genesis 1:26 starts off: vayyomer 'elohim na`aseh 'adam b'tsalmenu kidmutenu vayyomer 'elohim... "and elohim said." Literally, "and-he-said...

    Ordinances. Nailed to the Cross??

 To steal the popular emoticon in this thread, how is it that scriptures in the first three pages where posted concerning endorsement of sacrifices in the New Testament (by Paul no less) and a solid 5 subsequent pages went on about the same issue ^_^ The nice thing about historical...

    Ordinances. Nailed to the Cross??

On sacrifice... see Acts 21. Paul has been told that the brothers in Jerusalem have heard a rumor that Paul is instructing Jews, strong in faith in Yeshua and zealous for the Torah, to abandon the later. His response, to prove this isn't true was to accompany, as well as pay, for what is...

    What really is an Icon?

I would just like to submit: In the ANE it was common that the idol wasn't the god, or even representing the god directly. Instead, for example in the case of Ba`al, the idol was a representation intended to be his throne. So Ba`al, a bull-type god, was often depicted as having a bull/ox/cow...

    Why The Attack.....

If you are asking why, that is fine for this forum. If it is a debate or questioning, then it should go in the debate forum.

    Why The Attack.....

The Last Supper was a Passover and the early church recorded in scripture continued the practice (e.g. 1Co 5:8). Significantly Easter/Passover was an early dispute within the church. e.g. Polycarp continued the 14th practice, as well as the churches of Asia minor, as they affirmed this was the...

    Jethro creates judges

A number of ANE nations practiced circumcision. For example, Jeremiah notes: NIV Jeremiah 9:25 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh-- 26 Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the desert in distant places. For all...

“Church Preaching : Sunday has replaced Saturday as Holy Day(Shabbat).”---I am Angry!

Yes, and as to what you allude to above, people tend to like to "label". This has a number of purposes, but one [unfortunate] one is it expedites discussion toward familiar [and tired!] territory. Obviously this can server a positive puprose--if a 5 point and 4 point Calvinist are dialogueing it...

    Jethro creates judges

Shalom Stone! The parallelism before/after Sinai is a very interesting topic. Namely the events in Exodus 18 and 24 and mirrored. Implied law before Sinai is an interesting topic, notibly the enforcement of certain commandments before Sinai as well as the statutes that find their motive in...

    Defining "Messianic Judaism"

Shalom Henaynei, So would you say "Messianic Judaism" is composed of believers we could/would label as "Messianic Jews" and "Messianic Gentiles" or "Jews and Gentiles" for short? While I like your answer I find the movement curious because there are a lot of primariy, and perephrial, issues...

“Church Preaching : Sunday has replaced Saturday as Holy Day(Shabbat).”---I am Angry!

That is a different can of worms--one I don't wish to open ;) Depending on context who is/isn't orthodox or a Christian can be applied pretty liberally. But you are correct, my assessment is mainly in the arena that the majority of Messianic Judaism is engaged in at the moment (which I would...

“Church Preaching : Sunday has replaced Saturday as Holy Day(Shabbat).”---I am Angry!

If you take this approach I think it won't sit well with the listener because the history lesson obscures a lot of the salient details and won't address the core issues why various Churches dismiss Sabbath observance on different points. To be fair to both sides (which is important for edifying...

Knightwolflord, is there anything specific in Justin's dialogue that you wish to discuss? What questions did it clear up for you?

    Defining "Messianic Judaism"

Shalom, I have been working on a project, and part of it is "defining" Messianic Judaism. I know many of us dislike labels (even the Messy-antics one!) and boundaries that limit people, but I would still like to solicit the opinions of others on this. Many Messianic sites, especially Messianic...
